They decided to help to cut costs by allowing the use of titanium after it being banned for many years , the primary advantage of titanium parts at 3 times the cost of normal alloy ,Is lighter weight allowing the engine to rev more , be a bit silly to bring in a rule which means expensive parts make engines rev more only to thwart them with a rev limiter . a total waste of money for the riders , The SCB are far too clever to let that happen !!!

Turn speedway into Bitzabike racing , no thanks ,it's already been tried and has neither riders flocking to it nor spectators , take a look at poor mans speedway and you will lose interest after about 10 minutes , a few over the hill speedway riders on anything with 2 wheels is not exactly an internatioinal sport , and too much messing around with the speedway formula will risk what is an international sport turning into an amateur attraction for weekend warriors and dreamers .

the 4 qualifying heats with the same four most inexperienced riders on a damp and heavy track was stupidity in itself , but then again it was organised by MX people who think 4 laps of speedway is like four laps of driving miss daisy the same as MX is .

Went to this on Saturday , and the whole thing was largely a disapointment , the speedway was not up to much but even 10 gate and go races were more entertaining than what followed , I had stood on the first turn listening to some MX morons whining on about how slow and boring the speedway was and how there were long gaps between races , And so I was largely expecting great things with the MX show to come , god help us all if that is what passes for entertainment with these people , the centre green presenter made Chris Popple sound like Dave Lanning , and after 5 minutes of watching 3 riders leap over the same ramp time and time again I decided to leave , anyone who thought that was better than even the worst speedway meeting needs their head read , I hope Mr Hemsley was keeping a keen eye on what was probably the biggest crowd at BP this year , most of the MX people have seen that crap before and still came and paid to watch it again , so with the right publiciity/promotion speedway should be a doddle to sell , one final point for MR H to consider . He has always said it's not the track it's the riders and better quality riders will be able to race on it , well you had better quality riders Mr H , did they manage to race ?

Mdl Gp Final Round --coventry Mon Aug 26th
speedibee replied to Main Man's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Since it was fairly obvious that not all riders would be able to attend all rounds , Taking the scores from each riders best 2 rounds would have been the fair and proper way to decide the winner . -
The people who are staying at home to watch are Sky's customers so what do they want , pay a Sky subscription to watch speedway then not watch it ?
-
No -one has mentioned the huge amounts of money syphoned off by the likes of go-speed before the promoters even got a look in , every single penny of the sky money should have been used to promote speedway as a sport and help the clubs to keep running ,but as ever someone gets a second home in the sun and the sport is left to limp along

The bit about you and the 2 short planks It's not like he is some Junkie lying wasted in the corner of a squat somewhere . Smoking a bit of weed is no different to going down the pub for a couple of pints , I can't see how his life will have been disrupted at all , -

The match was not run , the referee thought track unsuitable for inexperienced riders . -
No cause for alarm here , the Bspa have matters in hand and rather than see the flagship stadium of speedway lost to the sport they are putting together a bid to secure the venue for the sport in the future . A spokesman for the Bspa today can be quoted as saying due to the central location and having planning permission to operate 7 days a week , which would facilitate a centre of excellence for the next generation of british riders they felt that a joint purchase by speedway's controlling body was the best way to push the sport forward .. Only joking ! when questioned the bspa spokesman responded by asking what stadium is about to be sold from under our noses Coventry ? well I never , thats a shame ..

I think longeye has the answer as to who it was , the legal wrangling went on for years as I recall , somehting to do with vincent knowing he had faulty brakes but still going in the race , and they wound up hitting an ambulance that was parked somewhere it shouldn't have been as well . I'll see your terry vinicombe and raise you a Mick Boddice , , now you got me thinking norman hanks jock and benga , peter brown and rosetta , sheidegger camathias , wolfgang Kalauch , steve sinnot . luthringhauser , nick and gerry boret , mac hobson , oops almost forgot my favourite all time driver rolf biland , happy days , never could understand why the" chairs " were left till last and everybody used to leave without watching the finals

Chris Vincent the sidecar racer got sued by his passenger for recklessly endangering his safety , the passenger Terry ??? was awarded compensation also setting a legal precedent that driving recklessly even in a motorsport event carries consequences if someone gets injured
