New England Manager?
Brian Hamilton replied to stevehone's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Trees, I am with everyone on this but it is not just the cost of hiring the stadium. You would need Public Liability Insurance, St John's Ambulance, A Qualified Doctor, Track Preparers/Rakers, Oil & Methanol Supplies. Marshals, Timekeeper & Referee might do it for nothing. You might need an H & S acceptance as well. Don't wish to be partypooper but these things must be considered Best wishes Brian -
Am I surprised Norbold No! Unfortunately I only got 9

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Rusia's first great rider. I saw him ride in 1966. He was the first Russian to break into the World Arena. R.I.P.Igor.

Hi SuzieQ to be honest I thought that he was the best promoter we have had at Oxford but unfortunately some of the riders let him down badly and we all know the rest. As a team Manager he had the courage to let a rider know when they were in the wrong despite their ranking e.g. Nikki Pedersen was sacked shortly after winning a GP. Anyway he is a Brit and I would think as good as any of the other Brits. Best wishes Brian

Well said SuzieQ. I recommend Nigel Wagstaff

I dont think it would work really and with respect I doubt whether Stoke or Rye House would ever be equipped for Higher level speedway. Also, the standardisation of Entry Fees would be unworkable as each Club has a differing level of Costs. Brian

I really do think that we need a bit of 'protectionism' in our sport if we wish to start producing a future British World Champion. We can see it in every meeting these days in the UK, hiow many British riders are in a team? Hardly any. I would like to see every team, whether Elite or Premier, having a minimum of 3 Brits, it is the only way to encourage and groom our own into future Champions! It also will mean that there will be plenty of top riders to share around the Clubs. Brian

Hi shazzybird, To be honest, I agreed with Middlo's choice of team and they let him and GB down on the night for whatever reason. Brian

Subedei, He is not fit to be any Manager. Sorry but we have seen him at Oxford a few times over the years!!! It would be interesting to get the honest opinions of the Aussie team!

Anders I may be wrong but I have a sneeking feeling that Poole was cinders until late 50s.

Try this: In future the top 5 should take a minimum of 3 rides and the reserve should be allowed to come in at any time, but only once for a particular rider. However, if a rider is injured in his first, second or third ride then he can be replaced by the reserve for the remainder of the meeting. The reserve should then not be allowed to ride for another rider. -

Why do we criticise Keith Heuwen, Sky are making an attempt to publicise our sport! I dont like the fact that TV coverage reduces the crowd sizes any more than any of us supporters, but lets be thankful that at least Sky are on our side compared with other TV Companies who do little or nothing to publicise speeway!! Come on lets appreciate WHAT IS BEING DONE FOR ONCE!! -
Just remembered that Dave Younghusband was a very tall guy.

Hi Tubb, He was great and was so unfortunate to get the injury at Coventry that interrupted his progress. Touching on threads from other areas on this Forum he also rode important matches with his foot in plaster and his wrist in plaster! Regards Brian -

A few weeks ago I was in Central London in a 4* hotel for the weeekend and it had sky on when the Danish GP was on, but the hotel manager wanted to watch the F1 Qualifying times and refused to let me watch the GP. There was noone eklse in the lounge at all!! B****** I complained but it did no good. -
