Newcastle vs Glasgow 8/5/22 4pm??
Gaz replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Highlights on Facebook some cracking racing and track rode well. None of crashes were due to track and the heat 11 one was rider error. Heat 10 great race which was 1 race before called off. -

If it wasn’t for the obvious it would of been the heat to go on there. -

The rider didn’t crash because he was avoiding the rut, he hit the airbag near the pit gate which is nowhere near the concrete line. Heat 10 was actually race of the season at brough as well with about 5 passes in the race. -

One pass all night according to Cami Brown when there was about 5 in one race and all proper passes. I don’t understand why the ref waited til heat 10 then? -

Obvs not on the track so not sure about hole on 1st and 2nd corner. Most crashes apart from Basso on 4th bend seemed mainly rider error and the last crash before the call off had nothing to do with track. The track tonight was no worse than last few weeks and actually better with the race between Wethers, Starke and Basso race of the season. If there were numerous complaints during the meeting why did the clueless Graeme Hunter wait until heat 10? It makes it look a farce and the meeting should defo of been completed. They said more grading was going to take place and then 5 mins later it’s off. Would Glasgow of been as quick to want it off if they were behind?? -
BERWICK v NEWCASTLE (Championship) Sat 30th 7pm
Gaz replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not really could of took any of Wethers, Wright and Clegg out earlier on when weren’t doing great. When a rider is riding like that he has to have 7 rides yet our manager actually takes him out of a ride!! -
People saying we didn’t know we were running etc and started team building late, we actually knew we were staying open on 24th September when some teams were still racing last season. Teams like Birmingham actually did start building their team late, we didn’t. We actually had 4 or 5 signed by end of October / start of November.

RIP Jim. Such sad news, did so much for the diamonds over the years. Thoughts to Julie and the family

Redcar v Newcastle Tyne Tees Trophy 25/03/22
Gaz replied to Yearbyred's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Forgetting how woeful a performance it was from the diamonds, how shocking was it that they had a full back cover for Stuart Robson’s testimonial and only went and spelt his name wrong very poor! Legend of the sport and I am sure there will be much better racing next week. -
Redcar away on 25th March. Nice early start to season.

So will you not be attending John? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and the family.
-
He is definitely a 4 point average unfortunately.
-
Our new reserve is on a 4 point average.
-
Surely not BWD at number 1, that would be ridiculous, 4+1 on his last meeting at brough! And that wouldn’t of been from number 1 position either! Just read a comment saying he has a team in Poland to from his Twitter page so that will rule us out. And now he signs…
-
Definitely.. the Edinburgh trust even mentioned on Facebook coming down to meet the fans.
-
The average attendance has probably been about 500 over the course of the season and on speedway terms Granty has actually made profit. I think with a main promoter / co promoter with fans contributing also we can keep Newcastle Speedway alive and continuing for years hopefully at a new track in the future.
-
I totally agree.. every day, week that goes by we are running out of time / funds. Newcastle Diamonds Facebook / Supporters club should be doing something but seem to have given up.. There should be a post similar to Twitter one “Save Newcastle Speedway” and get votes going etc to see who would be interested but just seem defeated.
-
So just £25-30 from everyone who turned up last night.. they loved the club that much to turn up to the finale, surely they will contribute
-
Who has placed that figure on the club? The BSPA?
-
Just curious and how many fans would be willing to get involved, probably nowhere near enough but until know figures wouldn’t find out.
-
So the positive news was people interested in getting together to buy the club? Just curious what are the start up costs?
-
Thanks very much for everything you do for the club John… it’s much appreciated (by most!).. fingers crossed. I think if we had Ben we would of lost by more as I think we got 11 points from his rides.. the 4-2 would of been a nice fitting 45-44 to the Diamonds.
-
Exactly.. surely Newcastle Speedway Facebook page should be doing this and should of when the statement about it maybe being the last meeting went out. Every day is vital and they need to get something out..
-
More needs to be done on Facebook etc from Newcastle Speedway page to get the message out about getting a new promoter, it might not come off at all but the defeatist attitude and every post looking as though that’s it. If we put out a big poster etc saying we are looking for new promoter and mention fan consortium to gather interest it might help. A massive thank you the people who turned up tonight and haven’t ever been or haven’t been for 40-50 years… what is the point? Oh wow you got to walk the track
-
Ok we get you don’t like Ben
