  1. I hope if Scotts takeover is successful we see changes in Berwick Speedway, but you are right, speedway as a sport needs radical change and I`m not just on about a second line at the tapes, or not being able to return to the pits should a race be stopped. The bigger, richer clubs, those clubs owned by wealthy owners will resist change but for most clubs to survive for the long term we need radical action from the BSPA.
  2. First off I wouldn't take everything that Sportewefakty as gospel, secondly legally I cant see the PZM getting away with this in terms of employment law. Take Jason Doyle for example, he has already signed a contract with Swindon for next season to ride in the EL, if I`m right he can now ride in one of Poland or Sweden, that`s just not going to happen.
  3. I`m sure the Andersons want to see speedway continue at Berwick, they came to the club firstly as supporters I am sure they will want to continue to support Berwick from the other side of the fence, they cant do that if they close it. Surely any value will be so sell the club as a going concern, shut it and just about everything becomes worthless.
  4. If everything works out we will see Havvy still involved in speedway, maybe not in the EL though.
  5. Fact or not I would doubt any PL No1 is on that kind of money, even with the help of sponsors.
  6. If that is true then it is little wonder some clubs are in financial difficulties and living beyond their means.
  7. Tickets for Prague have gone on sale, all i need now is Easyjet to publish their flights out of Edinburgh for next June and I can get booking. https://www.ticketportal.cz/performance.aspx?idp=260016
  8. But we would lose all our local Derby matches and the revenue the travelling support brings, as things stand right now our nearest meetings would be Buxton or Belle Vue and you cant exactly see their travelling support being the same as Glasgow or Newcastle for example. IMO its either PL or nothing, not unless there is a radical change in the make up of the three leagues of course.
  9. If any takeover has failed there arent to many tracks that can fit Berwick`s fence, many tracks race in stadiums that are owned by the GRA and it seems that part of the agreement is that the air fences are let down after each meeting then inflated again ready for speedway, certainly the case when you see the greyhound racing on Sky from places where there is speedway and greyhounds, Wolves, Sheffield, Newcastle etc.
  10. As has been mentioned its not that simple, all riders will negotiate there own contracts with a club, where a club provides bikes, vans, mechanics, accommodation etc the rider could accept less money than a rider who provides all that for himself, then there`s a situation where a rider could be on good points money but only some will come from the club the rest being made of from sponsors.
  11. If there is to be no speedway then the fence isn't worth all that much, the fence belongs to Berwick Speedway and would be part of any sale as its an asset of the club, though it might be nice for the seller to remember who`s voluntary donations it was that helped by the fence in the first place.
  12. Berwick, hopefully everything will go to plan and we will get some positive news soon.
  13. I think there was due to be an interview at the pre-AGM today that with any luck will bring some good news to another PL team.
  14. Hope everything works out today and we get the news we are all wanting very soon.
  15. I think Lindgren will qualify in the top eight which will allow Bjerre to take his place in next years series and possibly open up a wild card pick for another rider.
  16. Was anything announced at last nights meeting ?.
  17. Sounds like quite a mess at Leicester, hopefully things work out and Hemsley gets out asap. I was surprised Leicester made the step up to the EL so quick.
  18. Your suggesting, what for the teams who don't reach the play offs, will be a two month season.
  19. It would be great for Lambert to get a team place in Poland, though if he goes to Leszno how many chances would he get, it would be better for him to get regular racing in League 1. Craig Cook signed for Stal Gorzow a couple of years ago but never turned a wheel for them other than in practice, Lambert career would go nowhere if he did a similar thing to Cook.
  20. Unlikely but if everything goes as we hope it will we could here something at the end of the pre-AGM meeting next week or at least soon after.
  21. Fixed night for the EL would certainly be a step in the right direction, though for the reasons others have stated its unlikely to happen. PL isn't so bad as tracks race Thursday to Sunday on their normal nights.
  22. Peter Karlsson said the other night that Wednesday would be last appearance in a Wolves race jacket, I am not sure that meant a complete retirement from all speedway, though if it was what an end to finish your career with a great performance and winning the EL.
  23. With the news over the last few days that Plymouth and Workington face potential closure, doubts surrounding Leicester, Coventry and Belle Vue, lets hope we have some good news from Berwick in the next week or so. Big week coming up.
  24. When speedway returned to Workington crowds were good and they had a good travelling support to all the away tracks, it helped they had a winning team I suppose but what has happened to all those fans.
  25. A few years ago in the Berrington Lough days Berwick`s lights went, they invited fans to go out to the car park and move their cars to the centre green, keep their lights on to keep the meeting running, didn't last long.
