I have spoken to a few people (not all Len fans) and they all give the same story that there is about £15k of gear sitting in the pits ready for Nelson. So I presume that Len believes he is going to turn up sometime ???
-
Along with Horatio Nelson and Mike Tyson's if the Rye Management applied for it
-
Todays mercury states that whenever Luke B feels fit and ready to return there is a place in the team for him !!! But Chris's injuries are a bit more long term, last time I saw him at Rye he said that the back is still very inflamed and they can't think of full recovery until inflamation is gone and slow healing takes place ??

It states that the Aussie team will feature the likes of Jason Doyle, Sam Masters, Kevin Doolan and Dakota North. Does this mean that the test match/series will be a PL level series or are the real Aussie Stars all washing their hair that night ?? They could be riding in a GP somewhere I suppose. I didn't realise that Davey Watt, Rory Schlein, Troy Batchelor, Jason Crump and Ryan Sullivan were in the GP series this year ))) Phil Silvers, on 20 November 2012 - 03:06 PM, said: I can never understand why the points limit is less than half the available match points? Speedway is getting a weaker product year on year with novice/reserves two seasons ago now in the main bodies of teams with little or no progress on track. This just makes the higher scoring riders in the PL redundant as they are deemed to have too high an average for the PL for team building and there are only so many places available in teams in the EL. Why not make teams built on a 50 point average or 60 points there only 90 points available to score so I cant see the problem, it would feature a lot of the better skilled riders around the tracks,.....or am I missing something? Rider's averages are based upon what they score in each ride multiplied by four. Therefore you have to largely discount points scored in heat 15 thus deducting six points from the meeting total, arriving at 84, 42 points to each side. A higher points allowance creates an imbalance between the better off and the poorer clubs, the clubs that can afford 3 out and out heat leaders will grab the cream of the crop, pay them all on number ones money and can still have resonable second strings and reserves. With a lesser figure at least a club has to make a choice of either top heavy or even averaged throughout.
-
Might as well make it a Rye House/Ex Rye House team to race the Aussie second strings. Tai Danny Eddie Olly Stuart Rob Mear/ Adam Jordan/Leigh Nobody I really think would do much better at Rye ? Maybe Bomber, Cookie or Josh ?

Okay, so putting my positive hat on I think we have a team which if rides to its potential can be in the mix for top half of league next season and maybe an outside chance of a play off spot. Ollie Allen, On his day is as good as any number 1 named or likely to be in the league next year, must keep his head together as I have seen meetings in which he has just disappeared and recently has become a bit injury prone Jason Garrity, Enthusiasm and skill in bucket loads, crowd favourite, must temper enthusiasm just a little sometimes. Use brain as well as balls ))) Tyson Nelson, a bit unknown again as to how he has spent last season, hope he can slot back in quickly to where he was when he last raced for Rye. He was looking a 6.5/7 rider at that point. Jason Bunyan, good to see he says that he has sorted his head and his gear, now lets get back to the old JB and get the average up by a point or so )) Anders Mellgren. Totally agree with Shadders and others that this guy is going to be a class act by the end of the season, looks to be in the Linus Sundstrom school of thinking, but just needs to polish up on a few things to follow Linus's class act. Jasper Lykke Nielsen The guy is as fast as most heat leaders around the track, but you cannot give other riders a second or two start from the gate. As we all say once the gating is sorted, watch him go. Simon Lambert I am not his biggest fan but he made big strides at the end of the season and came in at a difficult time for us. Hope next year he can push on and be our key rider on bigger fast tracks and improve on the tighter more technical ones. Plenty to look forward to next season and as long as we dont have the dreadful injuries we had last year I think the entertainment on track will be top quality.

The more I think about it, I don't think you will be far off with the above team. Gives Len a bit of wriggle room with SL in the team to replace with Luke if he is not doing so well, later in the season. If Ollie can stay fit then he can certainly match most of the other number 1's in the PL and as Ash say's he meets the criteria set out in Lens description recently. Taken from BSPA site, Len stated. "Both John Sampford and myself ignored actual points averages and have put together the seven riders best able to bring potential success for the club" In other words, Lisa or Hazel nicked the calculator and we couldn't do the addings up between us, so we chose a team that is about 10 points under the max allowed
-
Phew thats a relief
-
Maybe Stefan Neilsen at the bottom end of the team as it appears has Chris Louis has written him out of the Ippo team ?? It brings symetry to the reserves )) Last year Jason and Jason this year Neilsen and Neilsen ?? )))
-
Ohhh shock horror what a suprise
-
With the signing of Leigh Lanham by Ippo and it looking likely that Doolan will go back to Redcar. Who's left for Rye to sign that meets Lens criteria ??? Eddie Kennett ? Joe Screen ? Stuart Robson ? James Grieves ? Ulrich Oystercard ? Kauko Niemenen ? Jason Doyle ? Charlie Gjedde ? Olly Allen ? Clutching at straws now ??? Maybe the return of the American Express
-
How do you know its Simon Lambert ? Documentation ? Proof or heresay ? As much as he improved at the end of last year, I dont think he is going to improve much on his starting average and on some days looks decidedly wobbly around Rye. If its him because we have a superstar No.1 and his average fits, maybe, but otherwise I am sure there are better prospects out there.
-
Len has said recently and announced to all in attendance at the end of year presentation that the team will be based around the four, 21 and under aged riders (Nelson, Garrity, Mellgren and Kasper Lykke. Then Bunyan has virtually stated outright that he has signed for next year. Lanham cannot by any stretch of the imagination be classed as a young rider, so therefore if he joins Rockets next year it can be assumed that he will be as No. 1 or reserve ? He is not my idea of a top No.1, but he is experienced and is not a spectacular prima dona ??? Maybe in as second or third heat leader but not No.1 please Len.
-
If you read my post you will see that I say that in my opinion they will NOT be in the 2013 Rockets Team, but if we did have one I would wish it to be Jason Doyle. Already signed and sealed for Rye next year are if Len is to be believed, Mellgren, Garrity, Tyson Nelson, Kasper Lykke and Bunyan. I think you will find that is just one member of the Wasps 2011 winning team.
-
Seeing Lens statement on the BSPA site this morning that he has 5 members of the 2013 team sorted and is just looking for a No 1 and a reserve. With his words that the No 1 has to be Experienced, Not spectacular, Not a prima donna to fit in with the family atmosphere of the team, makes me think that nexts years No 1 will be Kevin Doolan ??? Previously mentioned have been; Eddie Kennett - prima dona ? Sam Masters - prima dona, not mature enough Ben Barker - Not experienced enough Charlie Gjedde - prima dona, not reliable enough Craig Cooke - Not experienced enough Josh Grajconek - Not experienced enough Lewis Bridger - All of the above ))) Jason Doyle - Would love it but dont think will come to Rye permanent ? Leigh Lanham - fits the bill but is he a No 1 ?? Olly Allen - fits the bill ??? Any other ideas ??
-
According to Luke, he has to wait until after metalwork removed from leg and recovered from that procedure, expected to be July/Aug 2013. Has been told its too dangerous to race with pins etc. in leg. I see talk about Eddie K returning to PL ? I thought I had seen somewhere that riders with an average over 6 could not double down ??? Just thinking and playing around but, how about; 1. Kennett 10 ?/Barker 9.83 2. Bunyan 5.14 3. Kling 6.35 4. Nelson 5.33 5. Mellgren 6.47 6. Garrity 4.79 7. Neilsen 4.28 Total 42.36/42.19 Not sure exactly on Eddies average ??? But food for thought )))
-
I quite agree Shads )) And I will be telling the management all this at the 'Official Supporters Club' Dinner and Dance tonight. PS, you not invited ????
-
Although Anders average is lower than Wrights according to last set of greensheets, Len says he's signed and sealed for Rye House next year.
-
After Lens statement last night about next years team being the youngest fielded etc etc and his off the record statement that there will be 4 teenagers, 1 21 year old and 2 older riders, I think that only the number one position is the real mystery for most rye supporters ))) 1. Gjedde, Doolan, Masters ??? 2. Tyson Nelson (19/20) 3. Anders Mellgren (21) 4. Jason Bunyan (33 ?) 5. Ricky Kling (24/25?) 6. Jason Garrity (19) 7. Kasper Lykke (18?) Sam Masters (21/22) was the big rumour I was told last night, if so then it will not be as Len stated with the ages, but not far out. Very interesting team, plenty of room for improvement, but only 2 fully british riders.

Rye House V Berwick Pct 2nd Leg) 28th October 6pm
bolly replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Shads I know that you did not go on principle but I thought Rye did well tonight and not the usual subjects ))) Kasper, still no good from the gate but was the fastest around the circuit by far. Simon Lambert, I criticised when he joined but tonight he was excellent value around Rye. Jason Bunyan, top banana ))) Spoke to B4E briefly and I commiserated her that Bandits did not have the best of guests in both Fisher and Jacobs. I did notice that Doolan was celebrating like a full member of the team when we won ??? ))) -
Hey Shadders, you better read todays Hoddesdon and Broxbourne Mercury ))) Len gives you a right blasting for your tweets posted to last weeks @MercSport regarding Rye House ))) Constant critic, mostly ill informed !!! grossly unfair, totally irrellavent and typical of Shadwell. Hehehe just a few words from Lens reply to Chris Charalambous Len states he was contractually bound to include Steve Boxall and release Jason Doyle in March 2011. He has major ambitions for the club but this year has been unprecedented with the number of serious injuries and riders deciding to retire mid-season. He also states that ambition is shown with the aquisition of the contracts of Jason Garrity and Kasper Lykke, and mentions the enhanced performances of Anders Mellgren. By the way, congratulations to Anders on last weeks top performance in the PLRC
-
1.Doolan 7.29 2.Bunyan 5.14 3.Mellgren 6.47 4.Nelson 5.33 5.Kling 6.35 6.Nielsen 4.28 7.Garrity 4.79 Total 39.65 Usual Rye line up about 3 below points limit. Unusual Rye line up with 5 foreign riders. 2 riders with experience and most prob will not raise average. 4 riders who I fully expect to keep improving and raise there averages 1 rider who if they turn up could be good news And who knows, maybe Charlie will return and do a few meetings for us at the start of the season ))
-
Chris will not be fit enough to start next season, when he was last at Rye he said that there is still pressure and inflamation of damaged vertebra. I think that 2014 will be more likely if Chris does decide to return to speedway.
-
Love the team Ben, but Ijust cannot see Robbo returning (as much as we all would love it). When I spoke to Len last week he was pretty sure about the return of Nelson, so swop Robbo for Nelson in your team and I think it will be much more likely to start the season.
