4BenMoran
Anyone know what the revised line up is for this meeting? Heard there’s been at least rider pull out who'd been seeded direct to the British Final itself. Be good to know whose been ‘promoted’ from the semi
ellioth4
THE next meeting at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park is the British Semi-Final, which takes place on Thursday May 1 (7.30pm). Sixteen riders, including Watling JCB Lions duo Drew Kemp and Dan Gilkes, will be competing in what is sure to be a hard-fought event, with just six qualifying places available for the Final at Belle Vue on May 12. Other Leicester connections in the meeting include Lewis Kerr, Craig Cook, Connor Mountain, Dan and Joe Thompson, Ashton Boughen and Danyon Hume. Kyle Howarth is no longer required to compete as he has stepped up into the list of seeded riders for the British Final, with Richard Lawson not competing in the event. Normal admission and live streaming prices apply for the Semi-Final at Leicester, which will run to a 20-heat format. Season tickets are not valid for this meeting. The draw will be made early next week and posted to our social media channels. As an added bonus for the kids, we have 100 free Easter Eggs held over from last Monday which will be given out to the first 100 children through the gate on the night. RIDER LIST: Lewis Kerr, Craig Cook, Connor Mountain, Dan Thompson, Drew Kemp, Jordan Jenkins, Leon Flint, Jason Edwards, Ben Barker, Simon Lambert, Joe Thompson, Alfie Bowtell, Dan Gilkes, Ashton Boughen, Nathan Ablitt, Danyon Hume. Taken from Leicester website, released on 24th April.
1 valve
The line up for the meeting is indicative of the current state of British speedway. in days gone by there were two semi finals feeding through to a top quality line up for the final. Now we have only one semi final made up of Premiership reserves & championship second strings which reflects poorly on the so called development of British talent. Sad to see!
Triple.H.
If you pull out of the qualifier or final, for any other reason than injury, you should get a ban of 2 matches in whatever league/s with only an NDL rider allowed to replace.

Riders are not contracted to ride in an individual event until they accept an invitation to ride/compete, so refusing a booking cannot attract a fine or ban. I didn't say it does I said it should There are plenty of people who post on here about the top 15 riders in the World not being in the GPs. IMO the National Championship is the same, as it is this year top 8 seeded next 8 have to qualify. If you can't be bothered then you may as well Jack it in. Edited Tuesday at 01:59 PM by Triple.H. Such exploitative practices where individuals are forced to work against their will are the crux of modern day slavery which is prevented by suitable and agreed contracts of work/employment/engagement being put in place. Wild Man Vic
I am pretty sure that when a rider fills in his application for a British Licence prior to the start of the season there is a box to tick if you wish to compete in that seasons national championship, so it is not compulsory. But I am sure virtually every rider ticks that box - but, the option is there to not bother with it.

Fullmax
How good is Dan Thompson now. He's come on leaps and bounds in the last couple of years and looks a real star in the making with a brilliant future ahead of him. Am I right in thinking that Joe Thompson at some point a few years ago was ahead of Dan and looked to be the twin who'd progress further in the sport. Hopefully still time for Joe to join the top table.
flagrag
Dan Thompson showed some quality to win this meeting he won races from the gate and passed people to win races as well. I would say on current form if he does not make it through the SGP2 Qualifiers I would say got have a good chance of wildcard place . I have heard that Dan has also signed for an extraliga team when team changes are permitted

When I watched Dan & Joe at doing their laps at Brandon ,when they were extremely young, i always thought Dan was the more impressive of the two
