Ipswich Witches v Leicester Lions - Thursday, 22nd May

Like I keep saying, the key to the Witches season was always 'can Doyle stay injury free?'

It's a huge paradox. You sign an injury prone rider, but the reason for that is that he doesn't know anything other than 100% effort. Rides in a testimonial like it's a world title run-off.

I'm just glad the injury wasn't worse and maybe that's his bit of bad luck done.

Looking forward to the play offs.

The track was no one near the one for the bank holiday meeting. The Blue groove in the above picture is minimal compared to what it was on bank holiday meeting and wasn't dusty last night.

That's right and it did not affect the ability to race on it, inside or out.

As I’ve said before I always feel Leicester are our toughest opponents at Foxhall

You would prefer Bewley Kurtz and Lidsey over Fricke Masters and Douglas all day long ….. but at Foxhall the 3 Leicester boys go better then the 3 Belle Vue boys

Add in that Blodorn and Zach Cook are generally awful and that Becker and Howarth aren’t … and that Belle Vue reserves are poor generally …. Then you can see why Belle Vue are probably the better 1-7 but at Foxhall we are more likely to beat Belle Vue easily as opposed to Leicester

And Leicester absolutely deserved it last night

100%

Imo Leicester and King's Lynn are tougher opponents than Sheffield and Belle Vue around Foxhall.

Looking at results in the hunt for the league title in the last six meetings each at Foxhall, the lions have won once (not counting last night), the stars haven’t won at all, the tigers once and The Aces four times.

Well you do win the award for stupidity

I’m talking about this season

You beat us when you had Brennan at reserve and Charles Wright in the team and Lidsey at reserve and you can’t count last season when Doyle and Emil were missing and Rew was injured in his first race

Brennan and wright go well at Foxhall … Blodorn and Zach Cook don’t

The fact is Belle Vue are a weaker side at Foxhall now then in 2023 if you can’t see that then I can’t be bothered to talk to you

Seeing as I was there I can confirm most witches we’re trying the inside line for sure!

A dry inside line, ONE line, develops very early because they’re all using it and follow each other through it. They worked hard sorting the camber through the winter to create more banking, but it’s had the complete opposite effect. I don’t understand it. Riders were going all over the track last year, King frustrated everyone by going nowhere BUT the outside line, but even he now takes the inside route! Something has clearly gone wrong with the alteration.

This was from a few weeks ago, explaining how much track they’ve “cut” down. You have to wonder whether in their efforts to create better banking, they’ve cut down too far to the foundations. I’ve never seen a blue groove at Foxhall in all the years I’ve been attending.

Nonsense. The picture clearly shows nobody was using the outside

Question. How can a picture show if people were using the outside line? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve seen for a while… I was there and Ellis and howarth used the outside pretty well to pass people I’d say! But then again, I might be wrong because you can see a photo of one corner so who knows ?

Sorry but that is not a good look when you can see a blue groove like that, its means there obviously was not enough material on it to start with, even a light shower on that would have meant an abandonment.

Did it cost Ipswich match with the track like that?

I hope not, even with two riders out i can't believe they have lost at home, if there was one certainty this season, the Witches would not get beaten around Foxhall, but it goes to show though, the league is far from the forgone conclusion many thought it would likely be.
