racers and royals
Confirming that Charles Wright is the wildcard and Chris Harris and Adam Ellis the reserves. Just a reminder that on Friday there is qualifying and a sprint race. Starts at 2pm Saturday no qualifying at all. szkocjasid
I'm pleased with the reserve choices. Always better to go with ability / who performed best in qualifiers etc. Nothing against Sam Hagon, but if he couldn't qualify for the British final, how can he expect to compete against GP riders. When the youngsters are good enough they'll get their chances, till then, that's what the SGP2 is for, the next batch of future stars.

We'll have to make sure Hagon gets the reserve spot for our SGP2 round then, unless...? I can almost, almost, get the argument that people want the best riders competing, but you have to draw the line somewhere, surely? Harris has made 103 GP appearances, is this really the best choice for British speedway? Sam Hagon might finish last, if he even got a ride - but so will Harris most likely - at least he might learn something from the experience. Actually think it’s quite embarrassing that Ellis and Harris have both been offered it and accepted it. Always feel track reserve should be young guns okay they might not be competitive but not really there for that, basically to fill a spot in a race if you’re lucky. It’s good experience for them to be in around it and a chance to see what it takes to get to that level. Instead we’ve got Harris looking to relive his youth and Ellis who’s only dreaming he could be good enough.

Hardly re living his youth , 4 th place in a very competitive British final , why not if he has got there on merit .

He also said on TNT/BSN (can't remember which) that he was more bothered about winning a 4th British title than getting the Wild Card, hence why he went for it and ended up last in the final. There's nothing wrong with that attitude at all, but to then be offered and accept first reserve doesn't seem right.

Has he got there on merit? Especially as there was nothing mentioned about GP reserve places being on offer at the British Final beforehand. It seems that particular qualifying criteria was decided afterwards. Personally I'd like to have seen the likes of Anders Rowe and Tom Brennan given those spots. Yes, I was sad enough to count the dots 😁 Stadium info that I've found online says 1800 seats in the main stand & 1200 standing in the south stand. That would make it 6400, which ties in with Wiki & other sources which say 6500 capacity with temporary stands.

When they had the World Team Cup over 2 Days number of years ago ,they had a big Temporary Stand on the 3/4th bend and a temporary smaller structure (standing)round the 1st/2nd bend and they reckon the Capacity was 8.5/ 9 thousand. It was not quite sold out though. We we offer seats on 3/4th bend on the Sat(for no fee).just too fill it I reckon.
