Workington Speedway suspended for seven days

𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗢𝗡 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗪𝗔𝗬

Within the last 48 hours the Directors of British Speedway Promoters Ltd have become aware of administrative issues that must be resolved before Workington Speedway can compete again.

A seven-day suspension of membership has been imposed to give them time to overcome these issues.

Said BSP Chairman, Rob Godfrey: “We are happy with the progress being made by the Club in sorting these issues and I anticipate that there will be a speedy resumption to racing at Workington.”

The suspension does mean that Workington’s matches at Berwick on June 28, Oxford on July 2 and Redcar on July 4 will be postponed.

I would have thought "administrative issues" unusual terminology for money matters (not that I have a clue as to the actual problem). Hopefully all will be resolved.

To the general speedway visitors this will mean nothing they will just go and do something different very poor decision if your near Northside.  get yourself down tomorrow and Sunday flat track is on

I can't I'm in the North East on the way to berwick for speedway 2morrow . Oh no its off, just have to do wildlife spotting on the north east coast instead

Seems it could be to do with visas, hence administrative rather than financial. Check out the Worky 2025 thread for more info.

Why suspend their licence though?  Brum had visa issues with Zagar and continued with a facility.

Administrative *could* mean they're not paying bills ... cash flow must be a problem with few home matches so far.

Seems very unfair on the three teams who are losing their home fixtures.

As usual, the BSPL is as transparent as a bathroom window.

If it is financial (I'm NOT saying it is) then surely it's best for BSPL/Workington Speedway to come out and say it, then people might be able to help financially to clear the problems??  

Once again speedway doesn't help itself with all this "cloak and daggers" type of announcements.

Whatever the problem(s?) is/are, I hope it can be sorted and I will still get my visit to Northside in the future.
