Weather forecast on met office for Kings Lynn today is showers this morning and sunny this afternoon/ evening so maybe a bit hasty will the postponement.

I'm not entirely sure how accurate that is, I'm not a million miles from Lynn and we've had torrential rain all morning with some localised flooding.

Not hasty at all, this will be the 3rd day of rain with plenty of torrential downpours too.Looks like another excellent call by Buster🫣🤪

You can call off every meeting days in advance as far as I'm concerned... just award 1 point each and don't faff about trying to rearrange them.

Great idea, season ticket holders will be getting excellent VFM, you'd fit in well on the BSPL board 🤣😬

Every club has different ways of working.

As a huge critic of King's Lynn Speedway I agree with their process with (genuine 😂) threats of rain-offs.

King's Lynn have 'probably' the smallest income of every Premiership clubs, in terms of sponsorship & spectators.

When the weather is like it has been these last 3-4 days an early call off is preferable. The expenses of a meeting being called off to a club are not cheap.

I don't buy this season ticket excuse... clubs should just roll forward the cancelled meeting credit to next season or refund it if the customer is not renewing, it's not exactly rocket science... and whoever it was that brought up concessions is (with respect) just living on a planet!

Probably one of the main reasons why King's Lynn have such small income from sponsors and spectators is because they don't know from one week to the next whether they're going to get their company exposure or able to attend a Speedway meeting.

It's not about King's Lynn, although they don't have a great track record with postponements, it's about getting the league campaign completed on time with tv schedules and rider commitments etc.

You can because if they hold on and have to call the meeting off on the day then it costs the club thousands, reimbursing plane tickets and other stuff 🤷🏻‍♂️ not as simple as that

The simplest way would be to have a strict cut off date, if fixtures haven't been run by that date then the home team forfeit two points for each meeting not run. No reason why twelve home meetings cant be run in five months.

Any 'solution' is open to abuse...

Imagine if lynn were on 35 points in 4th place and Belle Vue in 5th on 34 points... they would find excuses for not racing on any potential rerun dates... lynn get deducted 2pts, belle vue automatically finish 4th...

If today had not been cancelled, belle vue could have turned up to race, refused to ride due to state of track...meeting postponed....and you get same issue..

If you think running a meaningless meeting after the play offs is a good money maker, then sure why not?

Whoever refuses to ride forfeits the points, if both sides don't want it 1 point each

It is that simple... you just forfeit the points or 1 point each

That's where a strong governing body and set of referees come in who would take no squit.

It's not rained since about noon and none forecast for the rest of the day so with better drainage this meeting could have been on.

but the forecast (including a yellow warning) was for heavy showers up to 9pm wasnt it

with a fair bit of rain sat, sun, this morning and heavy showers predicted all afternoon you can see why it was canned

and that seems to be the preference of many including riders and away fans
