montie Posted yesterday at 09:34 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 09:34 PM Interesting to hear 3 lads from Hull who came to the EWR tonight to have a look because they had seen the scrap from Redcar last week on social media

Shrimmy
If rob chucked loads of money at the team next year I can guarantee we wouldn’t get great crowds if we was successful… .Scunthorpe people are traditionally tight knackers and won’t pay the going prices..fact.
eric i
Scunny have never had the biggest crowds, I don't think the crowds have been too bad considering we have had a crap team. A successful team might bring a few more through the gate but I can't see Godfrey blowing the budget with Glasgow wages.
ScunnyDan
Crowd tonight was decent imo - and a cracking meeting between the two teams, when isn't Scunny v Redcar a good meeting? I have heard in the bar this evening a Scorpion has hung the boots up and tonight was his final speedway meeting, but i'll leave that for him to announce when hes ready to do so. Credit to the Bears! Good luck to them in the playoffs and all the semi finals and finals their in. It does seem weird wishing people a Merry Christmas in August.... Some good racing, one or two incedents to talk about and - pretty sure I've never seen a 5-0 to each side in the one match. You can ever really tell with speedway, not 100%, keeps the sport interesting....

Emerson
A team of second strings and reserves was never going to have a good season. When building a team you need to look for riders who are likely to improve their averages. This was unlikely as Lambert, Allen, Worrell and Mountain's averages have been the same for years. There was always a doubt about Zaine and Declan in first season back and first season respectively. Only Harrison was likely to improve which has proved the case. Emerson
There are just enough number ones to go round. There needs to be some rider control for the good of all speedway and each team allocated a number one so as to give all teams a chance and more competitive competition. Zaines average went up 0.94 Declans went up 0.64 Harrison went up 0.6 mountain went up 0.56 These are a bit misleading because every riders average should of gone up by 0.36 due to the team limit being 40 rather than 42.5.
