I thought he was 78!

His contacts (however old) in Professional Football and Horse Racing should be a valid opportunity to develop some serious financial partnerships. Both those sports are 'swimming in money', littered with sponsorships and are also 'media-savvy'.  Should be interesting......

78. Good lord.

SPEEDWAY FUTURES LINK WITH HARRY

Monday, September 15, 2025

PREMIERSHIP CEO Phil Morris says the appointment of legendary football manager Harry Redknapp to the Speedway Futures Management team marks a major step forward in efforts to raise the sport’s commercial and media profile.

Redknapp, 78, enjoyed a stellar career as player and manager, making over 100 appearances for both West Ham and Bournemouth.

He then had extensive spells in charge of both clubs before going on to great success as manager at Portsmouth and Tottenham.

Away from the game, Redknapp’s public popularity was confirmed when he won the 2018 series of ITV reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’

Speedway Futures Ltd was set up in 2024 and became the commercial and media rights holders of British Speedway, with the specific objective of attracting long term commercial investment to develop the sport in the UK.

Morris said: “There’s been extensive work over the last year or so, firstly in terms of bringing together a team of people with experienced commercial backgrounds, and expertise in media, which can help us develop the sport.

“Obviously the aim is to bring additional investment into British Speedway, and we have been talking to major multinational sports investment groups about potential future involvement in speedway in the UK.

“Speedway Futures are the new media and commercial rights holders for British Speedway, and we do have various potential deals in discussion which we believe can make a real difference to the sport

“As far as Harry is concerned, it’s marvellous news, and it comes from a direct connection with a member of the Speedway Futures team who approached him about getting involved.

“He will be joining the Speedway Futures Management team, which is great news. He will be focussing on leveraging his commercial and media contacts for the benefit of British Speedway and also actively raising the sport’s profile through all his connections.

“He has over 1.4 million followers on social media, and that automatically creates a new audience and gives us the opportunity to reach out to groups who we wouldn’t otherwise be able to target.

“To bring in someone with such a general reach and appeal as Harry can only help us to increase overall interest and hopefully bring in significant investment.”

With the BSPA being the major shareholder with 32,000 shares and the overall control of voting rights "acquired the rights" seems to be a loose statement ?

However, Directors “run” the business on a day to day basis not shareholders irrespective of voting rights.
Since Speedway Futures was only formed last year it seems like they have spent the time since then shaping something or other.
As an aside the NFL have “NFL properties” doing a similar role albeit on a scale UK speedway couldn’t hold a candle too.
That said, good luck to all concerned in their endeavours to bring about a strong future for our beloved sport.

With the 'official' statement today from Premiership CEO Phil Morris, does this mean 'Arry will only be working at/for Premiership clubs?

OR is it really a ploy to put pressure (financial or otherwise) on his local club,Poole to move to the Prem??😉

I haven't done any counting up myself, but I'm taking the word of people on here that the BSPL hold 32,000 of the 50,000 shares in this mysterious "Speedway Futures Ltd".

That would appear to mean that the BSPL own 64% of the company, and these unknown people own 36%.

So if these people were to sign a TV deal for £10M over 5 years, these people will be creaming off £3.6M for themselves?

That's a worse deal than when Terry Russell helped himself to a cool million from the £5M Sky deal.

I wonder, how much did these people pay to acquire 36% of all the sport's media income?

It would be fair to presume that the purpose of Speedway futures is to create income for UK speedway - although it is not clear exactly which divisions/teams are the targeted beneficiaries.
It’s reasonable to expect that the folk who are involved in successfully creating revenues for clubs would be entitled to receive compensation/pay for their efforts aka the CEO & his team.  Don’t expect for one moment that Harry R will be joining the team gratis free.
As for shareholders, they do not receive a share of the income proportionate to their shareholding. At best they receive a dividend of the profits after all costs are accounted for including the disbursements of raised funds to the clubs/leagues concerned.
