Allot of Poles look exceptional on the world scene when they are young, I assume because the equipment they can afford from Ekstraliga income is on another level than those they are competing against, then once they are no longer young enough to be a reserve they have tougher rides and confidence dips. Once Ekstraliga team building classifies them as a Polish senior the ones who looked world beaters early in their career often end up in second tier Polish league speedway - example Smektala. Prem Pawlicki & Przedpełski are back in Ekstraliga this year but have dropped down in the past. They are still better than most British “talent”. Fromafar
Well done to Woryna that was brilliant riding and sensational overtaking.Much improved rider and a breath of fresh air with his riding.Very good meeting and close racing with only one fall all night. Lambert couldn't get an U21 title as Drabik & Smektala were always in front of him in the early stages of his career. Which one is established in the GP's now? You need to ask why there are a lot more of them.I can remember when there were very few of them.!!
Col
Because in Poland speedway is more appealing to youngsters. It's behind Football and pretty much nothing else. In the UK it's behind Football, both codes of Rugby, Cricket, Athletics, Netball, Horse Racing even Ice Hockey attracts more fans. And there is more opportunity to give it a try as there are more tracks, 16 U21 team spaces available in top league in the world. Most British Speedway riders are converts from grasstrack & motocross (which is why Brits suck at gating!)
