If you look at some of the pictures it shows the straights are curved, makes for great racing and they have done the same at the NSS

I remember listening to Chris Morton at a Nuneaton Supporters club meeting a couple of years ago talking at length how he designed the NSS track. He couldn't find any plans of the Hyde Road circuit. But he visited the site of the original track and found that the inside kerb still existed on the ground. So he measured that all out and started from there. So in a real sense the Hyde Road circuit lives on. Pity they haven't got a roller coaster that overlooks the track though, eh?

For any historians out there, can they tell me what team played rugby in the centre of the stadium from the black and white footage?

Never had the opportunity to visit Hyde Rd as I wasn't old enough to drive but heard some great stories from former work colleagues who were regulars(who were Crewe Kings followers) about it being a great day out with the zoo being nearby.

I'm not certain but i believe Belle Vue Rangers played Rugby League there up until the mid 1950's.

The BLRC speedway meeting always took place around my son's birthday date so it was always a regular family day out for us. Arrived there early & spent the afternoon at the Zoo,then the evening at the speedway, completed by a few hours at the fun fair. Great memories, some of those BLRC meetings wil never be forgotten.😊
