Glasgow v Plymouth KO cupļ

So KO cup this weekend with the long haul to Plymouth for both teams on Saturday. Been a long time since Glasgow have done well in this cup. Friday and Saturday we are without Mario and Leon as both on SEC qualifier duties. Guests or guest and r/r required. Mario not at Plymouth is probably a bonus after his exploits at Armadale but Leon is definitely a huge miss for both legs. I hope Cammy has some reliable guests booked. We seemed to have problems with guests last year underperforming. Plymouth have a strong team this year and it will be tough to overcome them over the 2 legs. No tac subs allowed and our reserves are not on form yet.

This guest situation is the reason a lot of fans can just give a meeting a miss.KO Cup with main man missing is not ideal.Think I saw somewhere that Nick Morris is guesting on Friday.

The guest situation  is frustrating. Probably won't find out who is guesting officially until Friday.

You’ll find suitable replacements for Leon. No Mario for both meetings will be a bonus on Showings so far.

Don’t think many UK tracks will suit Mario just now.Though if you saw him in Heat 1 at Berwick you thought he was going to have a decent night, but was terrible the rest of the meeting.5pt av will be difficult to achieve unless he really gets the hang of Ashfield.IMO

Morris is a good choice of guest for Leon on Friday and possibly Jason Edwards for the away leg. However cover for Mario seems more problematic. Have we really listed KJP as the higher of our two 5.00 riders? It's a very poor call if we have, meaning the RR rides are taken by KJP with the reserves sharing the other three. Guests are very limited as there are surprisingly few in the 4+ category particularly on Friday when Redcar (Pijper, Mulford and Scott) are already riding, leaving Simon Lambert and Kyle Newman as options, not great.

Didn’t know Flint and Hausl were missing this weekend.

Nightmare, especially Flint from a form perspective, but even Hausl in terms of getting track time. Hopefully those qualifiers are on a familiar track and a confidence boost for him, but missing an opportunity to gain exposure on another UK track isn’t ideal.

Big meeting for Hagon and Hodder, I think. A disappointing night at Berwick on Saturday, so time for redemption.

A lot of pressure on the reserves. A successful team needs riders to improve their averages. Chris and Kyle are unlikely to but Leon certainly will converting BPs for finishing behind Dan T into actuals. KJP looks likely too but will run up BPs - 5+3 is a good score but it's still only 5 points. Mario is likely to be a project, so we really need Freddy and Sam to score well and Cami needs to be decisive in splitting their rides into five and three when necessary.

Agree!

Morris finished very well on Saturday looked very quick. Leon will be a miss but Morris should do a decent job.

Sam Hagon was awful there for Poole in 24,think Newman is prob the best guest you can get for Hausl he was excellent for us there a few weeks back.

Sam wasn’t great as a bandit either but he was forced into the main body of the team. The lad has talent you don’t end up 2x under 21 British champ for nothing. We all complain about a lack of British riders. Then as soon as a young British rider isn’t the next Bewley we moan about that.

Don’t like too knock Sam as he got tough gig at Berwick last season, but he inconsistent and can’t gate.As for U21 champ we all know it’s about the Final he certainly was not the best rider throughout  the meeting, that’s not his problem though.

Morris for Flint makes the Tigers stronger I think, as does Lambert for Hausl.

Flint has been flying so far and would score more than Nick, especially at Ashfield, Nick seems to start meetings slow and then gets the pints that he should, a little like KJP who tends to have a poor first ride, then gets the set ups for his following rides

Fair enough, was basing that on his 5 points from eight rides at Sheffield this season, whereas Morris has scored much better for Leicester.

Looks like Plymouth are strengthened by using R/R for Grmek!

Annoys me that clubs can sign a rider & get a facility in their 2nd match, having only ridden once - especially when there's Brits without team places.

Maybe but Flint is also missing for Glasgow, so it's not just overseas riders affected.

I agree that Plymouth are definitely stronger with r/r for Grmek, we would have been stronger with r/r for Mario if we had made Mario the stronger 5 than Kevin
