If it faces the expected Poole team and other teams that are strength in depth it will be an intriguing matchup, not so much pressure on Masters and Brennan as Killeen and Howarth will certainly back them up
HomeStraight
Senna Summers rides Sandy Lane better than Max Perry, other than that I’d be happy with that lineup Edited Thursday at 12:19 PM by HomeStraight

He would need to be signed as the lesser reserve with hopes of beating the newcomers to the league rather than as the "stronger" reserve. With Oxford's suggested top 4 being so strong, Perry would have to be the "stronger" reserve. You never know what you’ll get from a new 2 pointer, for example Ben Whalley averaged 0.84, so it could be too big a risk starting with Summers & Fletcher? Especially as Hagon had spells where he struggled at reserve. Good to see many Brits getting a team spot.
HomeStraight Posted yesterday at 10:43 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 10:43 AM I’d like to see Mitch back in the team somehow, he’s an exciting rider that’s improving all the time and a real fan favourite. No disrespect to Mr Perry but he seems to spend half the time in the fence at Sandy Lane, Senna and Harry are improving all the time, they would not be weak around Sandy Lane IMO. I thought Max Perry had quit speedway to concentrate on grass.

If the top 4 is right (if they have signed Howarth as the other 3 have been announced) then Mitch McDiarmid wouldn't fit. Even with 2 x 2.00 pointers Mitch's average is still over a full point too high
Bojangles Posted yesterday at 04:32 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:32 PM 1. Sam Masters (8.99) 2. Dan Gilkes (4.46) 3. Mitchell McDiarmid (5.53) 4. Luke Killeen (6.03) 5. Tom Brennan (8.64) 6. Dayle Wood (4.28) 7. Harry Fletcher (2.00) 39.

Masters & Brennan are both star riders in this league, Killeen has made improvments year after year, Gilkes can only get better, Wood at reserve again is quite strong (but beatable) Fletcher is improving fast & if McDiarmid can master the first two bends after the start its a very good side

HomeStraight
I like Dayle on his day but his form dropped off the end of a cliff as the season went on… the riders that improved over both teams as far as effort and performance, not yet signed in the Championship, were Mitch, Harry and Senna after his setback through injury… stats don’t tell the whole story, we haven’t signed Howarth yet, if at all… anyway, we’ll have to wait and see! As I'm sure you agree the race format dictates putting as much of your 40 point allocation into numbers 1,2 and 6 as possible.
Hilly
Unless you have a Rushen/Cairns starting on a 2pt average, going with 2 normal 2 pointers will not get you anywhere, Surely if you have 2 top heat leaders already, the need for another is not there, build to get an at least half decent reserve. Think your number 2 needs to be a 4.00 rider and hope they improve, that top4 will win plenty of meetings, you don’t need your reserves to be good at the start of season it’s the end that they need to be.
