Same as Ipswich with continuity

2023 Doyle Emil King Thompson Rew

All part of the team in the 2024 cup winning side and then 4 of them in the title winning side … Jenkins and Edwards also in the team in those seasons as well

Ellis was sacked by Sheffield so we didn’t have to do any poaching and Brennan needed to leave a club that was not paying its riders after Belle Vue showed him the door…. We couldn’t keep Rew after he demanded pay the same as Doyle and Ipswich won’t overpay for a rider

Continuity isn’t always possible as Belle Vue have found before with Lidsey and Brennan

Shame with what happened at Ipswich at the end of 2025 otherwise Doyle and Ellis would have still been in the side … Dan Thompson was already going to Leicester as he had a sponsorship deal Ipswich couldn’t match

Now we have to rebuild after a season of just staying alive so hopefully moving forward Bewley and Cairns if they sign will be part of Ipswich for years to come

It helps a great deal when you are not forced to make changes due to the rules, something Belle Vue have had to do year on year whereas Ipswich only once at the start of ‘26. Considering the amount of changes the witches have made when not required compared to the few The Aces have made out of necessity I cannot say continuity is a word I would associate with the witches.

There was the Covid year when Ipswich signed Jason Crump on an 8.21 average but as the season never happened it was carried over to 2021. When Louis saw his team didn’t fit he went to his cartel buddies and had Jason’s average changed to 8.00 rather than re jig his team as others had to. 😡

The only time recently that Belle Vue could have remained unchanged the cartel altered the limit forcing us into our regular change.

ive already told you,

we are respecting the riders that did so well last season, and rightly so despite some very high averages, they deserve a 2nd chance, if it dont work we will look at things mid season.

mark loves continuity, and so do i, so while we will have the worst team on paper, its a team i will back as they brought so much joy last season

"Worst team on paper ?" easy Phil nobody knows what Lynn and Northampton are going with yet let alone Eastbourne who will need Tolley's millions if they are coming into the fold.

Given that we have probably lost Dan, I would have thought that going for Ben Cook who is on a low average might be sensible.  He may not be as consistent in Hts 13 and 15 but he would be a reliable heat leader in his other three rides.

as a lynn fan please take him.

On your cartel soapbox again!! Did not help Ipswich much, Crump was rubbish that season. Not surprised that season hurts after being beaten by dads army in the final with Hans injured in the first leg and having to use  Kerr as a guest, Craig Cook as a guest in second leg and r/r for Ulrich. Terrible luck for Peterborough but they came through against all odds.

I've no horse in this race but that year the league was at its weakest ever dad's army were seven great riders but all at least a decade past their best take nothing away from what they achieved, but its a similar situation to when Leicester won the prem league.

The league is still pretty weak now compared to the glory years but that year in particular was dire for team strenghts.
