Roger Jacobs
So … according to this BSPL statement, the AGM has been postponed, and it doesn’t decide anything anyway! The most worrying thing is the number of teams: “The AGM itself does not directly determine the structure of the sport for the following season as discussions regarding 2027 and beyond have been taking place for some time, and both Premiership and Championship clubs continue to work to formalise arrangements.” both Premiership and Championship clubs - there’s only two!? spin king junior
Hasn't it always been the premiership and Championship agree their rules and the development league is announced completely separately?

Hopefully delay is due to ironing out a TV deal AGM not required to ratify a TV deal as it isn’t a matter under the articles or constitution of the company. Delays are usually around lateness of audited accounts or amendments to the articles etc, though the latter can be dealt with via an EGM. There is also the possibility of a company being restructured such as a major merger, acquisition, restructuring, or change of control, and management wants to present the updated resolutions or picture to shareholders. Technically all correct, I'm sure. However, we, as fans, have been looking for a clear process of management of our sport for many years. For me, that is a "management committee" who do not have a vested interest or it is a meeting of all promoters. We now appear to have neither. The process of setting the scene for next season is now invisible to the average fan. "Discussions that have taken place already" sounds like secret squirrels or as we used to say, the powers that be meeting in smoke filled rooms. If the AGM is so redundant in terms of establishing the key rules and regs for next season, why have one? And for those promoters not "on the inside", what say do they have in shaping of our sport? They did say that last season's plans were for three years didn't they?... Or was it two??? Either way, I presume all is sorted for 2027 and it is "as you were".... With maybe a TV deal on a mainstream or satellite channel as potentially being the main difference .

Sports news subscription Actually, small private limited companies like the BSPL do not have to hold an Annual General Meeting at all (unless their articles actually stipulate the need for one). If you did have an independent management committee they would have to report to somebody and that somebody would be the BSPL. It is very conceivable that the plans for next season have indeed (and hopefully) been discussed during the past months but there is no beneficial reason or requirement to inform others until all matters are in place.

We are lead to believe that the rules are dependant on the number of teams who have declared they are riding. So there is no way it can be "as you were" necessarily. But my main argument is who took part in these discussions during the past months? Either we have an independent ruling body or all promoters should have a say. Don't tell me that all promoters have participated in the decision making process during this season for next year's rules and regs. And hey, are we allowed to know the process by which decisions are arrived at? I'm not asking for a running commentary. Just some transparency as to the who and how decisions are made. Am I unreasonable? Edited 15 hours ago by False dawn

The play off structure changed from the top three in five, to top four in six, but nothing else..
