How can we modernise the sport? With a remix of 'you are my sunshine' obviously!

I think you're asking why are Somerset having race bibs like Poole? If so, I can't answer that as it well and truly baffles me. Somerset has always been a professionally run club and I see this move as a complete oversight, missed opportunity and just simply unprofessional. We've got the World Champion turning up at the Oak Tree Arena racing in a mix and match. Imagine the selling point to sponsors that the sports world champion could carry your logo under the Somerset Speedway umbrella on all marketing, advertising, promotions, on BT sports, within the local community, social media and websites to name just a few. If you can't sell that you're in the wrong trade!

Even better! I don't think you understand how business and marketing works. Forget the cost, as that will be recouped and more. With a professional image the chance for investment is massive - therefore out weighing the cost! I've seen it posted elsewhere that Swindon have a main title sponsor on the front of their suit and then 9 other team sponsors elsewhere on the suit. I wonder how many of those 10 would of invested if they had been told they would the size of a 50 pence piece to fit on a race jacket? None I expect. With an amateurish image the marketing oppertunities and chance for investment is a lot less.

OMG. I had to check the calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1st. This has to be some kind of joke Surely. Stand Together in Sun and Rain, Really ? Whoever came up this should be shown the door rather quickly if this is their idea of marketing..... It is nothing short of embarrassing

Available soon will be the Barry Thomas Story. Thommo started his career at Division 2 Canterbury before moving full time to Division 1 Hackney, and then had spells at Crayford, Rye House and finally ending his 20 year association with Hackney back at The Wick with his 20 year testimonial in 1989. More details on pre ordering this must book will be available soon. The book launch will be on Sunday 18th February at the Celebration of Speedway at Paradise Wildlife Park.

Also the rides where he scored 7 0r 8 he had 5 or 6 rides. He certainly has a mental block about Monmore but he is a good gater so no reason why he shouldn't score well there.

...as usual makes for interesting reading. An interview with Mick Handley who rode for my team, Oxford, for many years and a more than interesting interview with SRA Secretary Colin Gear who talks about Kenny Carter at length and the so called 'Sunday People' scandal as well as the drugs issue when Hans Nielsen was very supportive in an attempt to introduce drug testing to the sport. A great read!

Absolute correct decision. The delayed start time and very poor weather forecast (irrelevant how accurate) would have had a significant impact on the attendance for this vital fund raiser. The Ben Fund would have been the biggest loser.

I paid £350 for a racesuit in an auction at the end of last season, the money didn't matter as it went to a rider to help towards this season. It was however pointed out that I paid more than the suit cost brand new. Anyone paying £1,000+ for a suit is either a fool or has convinced some other fool to pay for it.

Easy answer to that, - bring back Second Halves. I'm sure there's many youngsters that would jump at the chance for on-track time, even though no pts money.

I would like to thank all the track staff, they put the air fence up yesterday which was a massive job in the conditions. The track held up ok. Needs a week of good weather to harden the surface up. The guys helping yesterday were great, a lot of knowledge so they were telling me where there are small problems with the surface that appear during a meeting. The rakers are there week in week out and see things with the track that most don't see, so working with them will be good. Glyn.

This is true. Most of the people who attended the meeting were pleased with the information supplied and with the way that the meeting was presented, and went home very optimistic about the forthcoming season.

A big yes to team race suits from me.I support the Belle vue aces with a passion and I like the club I support to look like a team.Just like any other team sport I can think of. Like most supporters of any team in any sport the teams colours and logo are a big part of sport.Seeing my team dressed in red white and black with a big ace of clubs on their chest gives me a buzz even before the 1st race begins.
