  1. There’s a positive update in the speedway star about the situation, including an interview with Steve Lawson. It’s free to read in the digital version online https://reader.exacteditions.com/issues/129454/spread/2 Lawson was keen to put some of the rumours to bed and set fans' minds at ease, believing that the matter would be resolved within a few days and racing will be able to resume imminently. He said: "I had a quick look on the Forum and people were saying 'they've run out of money', this, that and the other, but I can state that it's not financial. "It's a clerical error at our end, and speaking to Andrew (Bain) it's pulled the rug from under his feet. But it will be resolved, hopefully within the next four days, that's what we're planning. "We got the message from the BSPL on Friday and there was no time to get things changed round. Lawson added: "It's unfortunate that we had to let Berwick down, and Oxford on Wednesday and Redcar on Friday, that's what has upset Andrew, that we're letting people down. "I've no doubt it will get sorted, it's just the way it's happened and the timing of it is really awkward. But we want to put people's minds at ease and say it isn't financial, it is nothing to do with that."
  2. I would advocate that, but the problem is alot of fans are fickle and would see a weakened team as one with no chance of winning, and wouldn't bother going. Which I think would be less of a case with Polish fans.
  3. Tate and Jacob Hook were out promoting the club today with their bikes with a stall at Ullswater country fair in Patterdale. Giving out free tickets and information. Those riders more than do their bit for the club so don’t get your comments there.
  4. Fraser hasn’t even had a ride for Tarnow in 2 meetings this weekend. Down to miss Berwick away and the next home meeting against Berwick if he continues at No.8 for them. Saw Bastian Borke was down practising at Northside today, replacement incoming?
  5. Wrong, it’s hardly the promotions fault that he was then signed to ride for Tarnow in mid April, 6 months after he signed his Comets contract. You can’t blame Fraser either as he is only wanting to better himself. Speedway may be a team sport but you have to look after number 1 imo. When signed by the Comets it was only anticipated that he’d be riding in Poland in the U24 league on Tuesdays for Motor Lublin.
  6. He’s down to be riding for them next Saturday 28th too, so we will need another guest for Berwick away
  7. 100% what people in the queue were saying. Missed earnings for the club
  8. Catering in the main grandstand was absolutely horrific even for BV standards. Only wanted a soft drink as presumed you couldn’t take anything in, one hour a group of us queued 🤣 Ended up with one of the bar staff in tears and Mark Lemon behind there pouring pints. He must be mortified of what happened there tonight, who are these people they employ, absolutely useless 😆 They’ve had long enough to come up with a plan for an obvious problem
  9. It will be almost July and we will just be starting the league season, bascially becoming a 2 month league season. Needs a big rethink in the winter. Fraser Bowes will be missing the Comets next 2 fixtures too because of Polish commitments
  10. Shocking indeed, but think Tate will get a wildcard into the series?
  11. Must be the worst ever visiting performance by a team at Armadale this. What a spectacle 😂
  12. Could see that coming from Vinnie, basically could have just coasted round. Inexperience costing us already
  13. I believe Tate will be missing on Saturday against Edinburgh at home, as he’s riding in the SGP2 qualifier at Glasgow
  14. A 6pm start is due to be trialled in June, Andrew was telling people of this during the meet the riders night in the Waverley 👍 Let's see how it goes.
  15. It was at that Scott Nicholls night in the Waverley and he was cheekily asked about one day riding for the club, he was very complimentary about the set-up and promotion etc. and loves coming up here to walk the fells. He said something along the lines of he loves it at Oxford but never say never if the opportunity came up. Probably just being nice, but not one to rule out. Shame he might not be back until July or so.
  16. I get that, probably should have stayed clear of both. Not many number 1’s available now though, a few of them have dropped the league in the past few seasons to go onto bigger and better things. As it stands who is available?, Palm Toft? Schlein? New 5 point rider? Someone in the 3.liga? Nicholls seemed keen on the idea at the Waverley night in March, guessing he’s no where near fit yet though. Names please 😆
  17. Bowes doesn’t need replaced, there’s a good rider in there with time. Only Batchelor does, get him replaced now before the Edinburgh meeting. Bring in a scoring number 1 and we will slowly become quite competitive this season, i’m sure of it. Decent racing, and wins at home is least we ask for, not every season can be a play off team. Antti was unfortunate today with 2 tumbles but rode very well, Tate likewise seems to have the speed but can’t get out of the gate. There was a decent number 1 in attendance today, same he was shipped off to Berwick 🫣
  18. Redcar probably have the best top 3 in league and the worst bottom 3, so probably more of this to come.
  19. Yeah the radar looks grim now, but there’s still an easterly wind hopefully blowing it back over to the west. Can’t see a Friday night gap in the calendar for a while if it is to be rerun as the 2nd leg
  20. I think Fraser will surprise a few, he likes the technical tracks. Tate will probably struggle. I’m sure Antti got the hang of the track after a few rides last time and won a heat, hopefully we won’t have too much to claw back on Saturday.
