BHM - Aces/Wolves double header.

Recommended Posts

Good meeting though with lots of great racing and passing. Bewley is coming on leaps and bounds.

I think that it will be a similar score tonight tbh.

I doubt he will get another booking for Wolves this year, I would be surprised if he wasn’t on a fixed fee for the match, a lot of riders try that now.

Several riders  I have spoken with in the past said usually they agreed a "fixed fee" of '£X' when guesting, with a '£'s per point' figure also agreed for every point they scored past a pre agreed amount...

A basic for them as well as an incentive to do well..

I don't get this. Stevie is really good form for Poole (not sure he's even had a below par one yet) and with the leagues being that much closer these days, he should be on for at least 6 for BV.

Track for me. Don’t think either are suited to it. Would personally let them both move on next season.

Good job Lawson didn't turn up, that Wolves didn't need him says a lot for BV, I was critical about bringing S Worrall back this season he has reached his level, you need riders with improvement in them to be winning silverware, ah well down to Wolves and I fear more of the same. Wolves are a solid outfit and cannot see past them for the title.

12+1 for Kings Lynn last week, maybe Lawson doesn't like Wolves and couldn't be bothered for you lol, or maybe he just had a bad day like some other riders. Morris 4 last time, might not have even scored 4 today who knows.

NBJ was as poor as we knew he would have been, terrible signing, would have been better off with R/R.

Etheridge was unbeaten after 3 riders last week, today didn't beat an opponent.

Douglas was the star for Wolves, but he won't score like that tonight at Monmore.

By using your Lawson logic Morris could have got double figures as well. ;):t:

That was the best meeting I've witnessed for many a year, just a shame three of the Ace's didn't bother to turn up and the four that did were asleep for the first few heats.

The bowser was doing allot of watering before thought it maybe over watered but not the case, you could see there was a build up of material on the outside also.  Which no rider went within 10 metres of until Becker in heat 3 when he gated last but sailed around the other three by the end of the first lap.

Heat four then had all four riders level coming down the back straight on the first lap.  There was then a battle for first which saw Schlein get the better of Kurtz on the final lap due to Kurtz riding to conservatively and for third where Flint outmanoeuvred NBJ.

Heat 13 was also a great race, Wolves gated on a 5-1 but Schlein was at the back quite quickly, as Mastters was more concerned with Kurtz, Bewley flew round both of them and disappeared.  Masters eventually saw off Kurtz challenge clamping him to the kurb around turns 3 & 4 on the final lap.

Tremendous battle for first between Wright & Douglas in heat 14, when they must have swapped places several times.

For Aces, NBJ & Etheridge never looked like scoring and Worrall was poor struggled to get the better of Flint & Nicol fotr his only points.  Bewley tried to jump the start in heat 1 and found himself at the back, was clearly fast enough but Wolves team rode him out of it well.  Then clearly the fastest rider there until he was asleep at the start of heat  15.

Kurtz, Wright & Brennan all had decent meetings, Kurtz chain braking as the tapes flew up in heat 15 ruined what could have been a great finale.

Masters was very impressive for Wolves and Douglas did damage from reserve, after an impressive opening ride Becker was a little anonymous & Flint will be happy with his performance.

I've never liked Schlein but I've never thought him dangerous until today almost fenced Etheridge once and Bewley twice down the back straight.  Faded after a good opening ride.  I hope Poole have team suits, if he wears a suit the same colour as his bike at Perry Barr on Wednesday I might puke.

Nicol was more interested in what was going on behind him rather than what was going on in front of him, a few swerves to block chasing opponents.

Guesting "Track Specialist" Lawson was awful.

Shame:
Weather was crap, M6 on way home was crap & Wolves won but a thoroughly entertaining meeting.

99.9% if not 100% of aces fans would have said lawson is the better option at NSS.

As it turned out, Lawson never show up which was very strange

Yeah we do. Blue top half, black bottom half. Is that okay?

Phew!  Much better than the chocolate, pink & yellow combination Schlein has on his bike.

It is a strange conundrum with both Worrall's..

It seems that every season for a long time "something happens" to them and at the end of the year it is generally decreed that "we have to bring them in as they are on a bargain average, and they are much better than that"...

And then by the end of the next season it was proved crystal clear, once again, that they weren't...

We bring them back every year cos they r cheap!!!! Can’t be any other reason cos they both crap at the NSS - if they can’t find a set up now after all these years then it’s time to let both go and move on.

Mind u, they will probably be our top 2 next year when Dan gives the UK a miss!!!!!!!

Maybe the Worrall's engines aren't quick enough for Belle Vue, even Scott Nichols admitted his engines weren't quick enough when he rode for Belle Vue.

Decent speedway meeting. BV with only 4 riders were always going to struggle. I can see it being closer tonight tbf.

Bewley will be one of the top 5 riders in the world when he starts to gate consistently. Great track craft and now has some top class equipment. Riding in Poland alongside Tai has brought him forward a million steps. A shame we likely won’t see him in this country next season.

Wolves we’re solid through and tho I felt BV had more top end firepower, it didn’t show with Kurtz who had some bad luck if we are being honest. Felt the score would have been closer otherwise.

Wright was much improved and seems to be coming into some form before these play offs.

BVs issue is clear, the brothers are nowhere near at it and until they sort it out we have no chance.

Wolves at a canter for the league IMO

No chance.  Peterborough are miles stronger imo

So you almost need like a Polish set up then? No wonder Bewley does so well! Obv has the talent as well (before I get shouted at!)

Slightly better form last week. Not sure about miles better. However if anyone is going to beat Wolves it will be them. But BV could prob knock Peterborough out going on previous meetings, so finishing top is vital!
