Stuntdouble 118 Posted December 7, 2021 Think TJ would be a good fit but if not a fit and less stressed NBJ can beat most people when he’s on form . The last signing is going to be interesting as the squad is decent already IMO . Saying that there are some good teams being assembled this year .

Seem to remember Exeter doing it a long time ago, unbeatable on their fearsome home track, not very good away. Was the day's of the bonus point which they always got due to the big home wins, not sure how it would have worked out with the current points system, but probably would have as well. I think Exeter are less likely to have win using the current system, though they did win a couple of away matches. But I was more thinking win all your home matches, pick up losing points away, then qualify in the top 6, followed by winning on aggregate! All possible without away wins (but not likely)

Yes, Exeter won the Premier League in about 2003 and as a result the rules were changed with no bonus point on aggregate.

Was that the 75-15, 74-16 scores in a week against arena Essex and the stripes season?

Exeter won in 2000, I think it was quite a few years after the bonus points were dropped. I know Swindon were unhappy as they had won more matches than Exeter but finished 2nd! Another trigger to bring the points system in was after we won the PL in 2001, in 2002 we ended up with the same match points as Sheffield, but lost out to them on actual race points despite us having more wins than them. It was later changed to the new points system, as was fairer to every one and took away the advantage that both Sheffield and Exeter had from their massive home advantages. I was thinking more of the year Exeter won the league by thumping everyone at home Edited December 9, 2021 by Paulco
