  1. Past hour
  2. Cristian Zubillaga leading for 2.5 laps was probably the highlight of this meeting.
  3. It's an average score across a season in the best league in the world, why wouldn't you base a lot of your decision on it? Ben Cook managed to finish 17th once (from only 8 meetings) and I'm not sure why Kolodziej is mentioned, he won a GP in 2019, he wasn't some no-hoper. I think you've also made the point perfectly above: when Kurtz qualified. He was good enough, so he qualified. If there are any other youngsters good enough then they can qualify too. Everyone wants to see new faces and new battles, but nobody ever suggests any realistic names. There are no youngsters now that would provide a genuine challenge. Parnitskyi and Przyjemski will doubtless get there in years to come, but they would struggle next year.
  4. The reason Buxton closed was because the likes of cradley and Kent and others were paying stupid points money to riders to ride in the national league and Buxton simply couldn’t do that and it became impossible to field a competitive team, until the last couple of seasons Buxton were pretty much the only team sticking to the pay scales and even when they went over them to compete it was less than half what others were paying
  5. Hopefully the mail is wrong on Becker, he is nowhere near GP level.
  6. Giving the idiots who organized this ridiculous format an uppercut would be more appropriate. With half the competitors 2 or 3 levels below the top riders why would you expect a crowd. One of the world's best stadiums/venues and nobody in it. Put the lesser teams in a B competition and have them ride at venues where national pride ensures home crowd involvement.
  7. Today
  8. Rogers in charge, this was speedways chance to see the back of the likes of him. How many of his clan of American young boys will he try to involve? Speedway is in an absolute mess in this country.
  9. Friday’s SON 2 is live on TNT Sports 3 at 5.45pm- 1st race 6pm 28 straight heats - no last chance, no final. Should please everyone, even though result might be known with 2 races to go !! Saturday’s SON final is live on TNT Sports 3 at 5.30pm - 1st race 6pm
  10. Another valid point Bob when I used to go mid 80's to early 90's Sky was just starting out, multiplex cinema's , shopping malls were all in their infancy, you then got the internet , Amazon and things like Youtube competing for dollar that's why I think having a once home and away top league would help make Speedway more of a novelty rather than seeing same teams 2-4 times at home each season. Better supported top tier teams could also run a b team in the second division also if they wished.
  11. The "British Lions" had loads of non British players. And English Cricket? Literally dozens of West Indian and South African born players who qualified through residency... And the likes of Andy Caddick and Ben Stokes being from New Zealand.
  12. A bit like that overnight sensation Brady Kurtz? Stumbled on a special engine? Or maybe you have him down as a genuine generational talent? (For the record, Brady’s also using an AshTek engine. Or maybe it’s several?)
  13. You complained when an Australian rode for New Zealand against Australia (Ronnie Moore)? You complained when an Englishman rode for New Zealand against England (Bob Andrews, Dave Gifford etc)? Happens all the time, in all sports. I'm English, but represent USA in international darts events - against England...
  14. Yeah, that's why nobody is interested in football these days. An eighth place team being promoted above a third place team. ONLY in speedway...
  15. Yesterday
  16. ... until his Ashtek GM goes pop 💥 We've all seen riders through the years who have stumbled on that special engine and they look a million dollars until it goes bang and then they never quite look the same again afterwards. Whether he's one of those or a genuine generational talent time will tell.
  17. Battle between the Poles and Aussies for the trophy. Lambert will let Bewley down.
  18. Happens in football with play-offs. Probably many other sports too. I don't agree with it, but it's not a Speedway only rule.
