What about Northampton?
piston197 replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Uninformed ? I have had numerous exchanges with HC, have had a stall adjacent to him at Shepton Mallet, Stratford ( twice) @ Cirencester . I have outbid him at an auction and seen his bile when he did not bid enough money to win the item, I have heard unpleasant exchanges with others. Yes he is smart enough to get his shows on the TV, and there is no doubt there is some business sense and a lot of contacts there, his work as a freelance journalist was never in the Kate Adie sphere, but he was there doing it, he also earned enough money as a motorcycle courier to fund his drug habit, he is now clean and doing very well, but as Dean said the TV stuff is mostly Fake, I know most of the people he visits, Andrew Longfield, Sam Jones , Greg ,etc I have had his team contact me twice once directly and once through Jake Morgan to have a poke around in my shed, and have been contacted by his team to trade at an event I run ( no they did not turn up) So slightly better informed than someone who has just seen him on the telly, have a look in the background of his shows and you can still see a lot of the things he "sold" still there, a lot of the bikes he has "sold" come up with a private Ebay seller based in the Chjeltenham/Oxford area, here is the latest 1937 Francis Barnett Plover 150c Runs Rides Great Patina Henry Cole Shed Buried | eBay UK here is another French Velosolex S3800 Moped 50cc, Runs/Rides, As Seen On Shed & Buried 1 of 2 | eBay UK and another French Velosolex S3800 Moped 50cc, Runs/Rides, As Seen On Shed & Buried 1 of 2 | eBay UK -

Strangely enough HC does attract the "yoof" I have had the (dis) pleasure of being adjacent to him at a number of events, youngsters are queueing up to have selfies with him and buy puncture repair tins for a tenner if he signs them! The strangest thing happened at Bromberrow last weekend, a stallholder next to me had a one gallon can in decent nick and another with the side rotted out on his stall. A lad in his 20's with a girlfriend/wife and a small child asked the price, Nigel the stallholder said "make an offer" the young lad got his wallet out and said " I watch Henry Cole's shows and know they are valuable, I only have £150 will that do ?" The stallholder replied " I cannot take that off you, you can have the good one for £20 and I will throw the other one into the deal"!!!! -
I looked at the list of mods yesterday, about 5 and 3 haven't visited the forum in over 10 years! Could log on invisibly I suppose.

Very true. Same thing happened to the Monarchs last year. -
Less than 2 weeks until kick-off! I can't wait. Good line-up for the Ben Fund too. I just hope this bad weather won't continue until the end of March and we have lots of sunshine on the 28th

Only someone who knows nothing about Henry Cole , would make the sort of ridiculous uninformed comments , like piston has.

Who runs this forum these days ? Maybe there should be a Nora section so people could keep up to date with what’s on !!

Redcar council own the whole site , Speedway, Moto X , the Go Kart track, its the ‘ South Tees Motorsports Complex ’, the car park is a shared space between them all and is supposed to be maintained by the council. The last time it had any work done on it was in 2018 when I asked them for their insurance details as a fan had fallen over in the car park due to its treacherous condition . The whole area was regraded the following week !

While these 2 and their fake tv programs should not be ignored they appeal to the old generation and they are not the future of speedway, we need to be looking to influencers, now don’t get me wrong imo they are useless twats but for some reason they appeal to the yoof and that’s where we need to be looking -

I know but that's not what Daniel said 🤣 -
That is 100% true, his “proper” suit is going to be used by the mascot. Technically it was Ryan giving the wrong measurements to the manufacturer so they did nothing wrong whatsoever.
-
Totally agree with you regarding Henry. He gets bikes on the telly and has introduced the genius that is Allan Millyard to a new audience. Without him, there'd be no bike programmes on TV, simple as that. Numpty? Nope.

While that might be true that doubling up is keeping the sport running it does nothing to make it credible. without credibility it won’t grow and the media certainly isn’t interested in it’s current guise. try going into your local pub and explaining how doubling up and guests work in our sport. It’s embarrassing
-
I see it stated often that "doubling up is killing Uk speedway". But whilst the 3-tier league stucture is in place (like it or not), what other workable alternatives are there? Ive not come across any except reductionalist ones, or magically producing a new crop of riders. How is it killing Uk speedway, when it looks more like it's keeping it breathing? And if this life-support is to be removed, like any dependency it can only be done by longer term planning and sticking to the plan.

I don't think the Car Park is the responsibility of the Redcar promotion. I could be wrong, but I believe the Council OR the Moto Park people are responsible for it (maybe someone can confirm this?)

Sorry I never saw this post at the time. MotoGP is (like F1) prototype bikes featuring all the latest technology and rider aids available, in my opinion the pit crew are at least as important as the rider or at least the relationship between the two is. WSB are production based Superbikes but with a great deal of tuning to improve perfomance, much cheaper to run than MotoGP . BSB are again production based Superbikes with some tuning to aid performance. However the rider aids are very limited indeed so with the extra power they must be a real handful meaning rider skill is at a premium (not that they are better riders than the other classes just their skills are more 'traditional'). In my opinion the best of the lot.

Wont be far off, Lidsey Klindt Iversen are certs

The past two years the premiership has had a media day. Is that happening this year as I don’t remember seeing anything about one. with no team announced at Northampton as yet we could have a game of guess who ! get the riders to dress like the stig and unveil them along with their mystery owners and promoters

Ryan's in Steve Worralls suit from last season, the suit manufacturers got Ryan's measurements wrong
-
