It was an awful crash. All four riders were still pretty bunched coming out the last bend, and when Jonatan Grahn whacked the fence on the home straight his bike careered straight into Danyon's path. He somersaulted right over it, coming down on his head or neck, with his bike (which may have caused the real damage) landing right on top of him from a height. While seriously hurt, the news that he is awake, and has full movement is a great relief. To the person, the idiot, who complained about the meeting not concluding, I can only say that while the club operates dual medical cover, the severity of Danyon's injuries meant that both paramedics and their staff were quite rightly fully engaged in working with him, right there on the track. Some things in speedway are more important than getting the next race on. Get well, Danyon. You are one of the happiest, friendliest chaps I've ever met. Why do bad things happen to good people? -

Did anybody attend the Ronnie Moore statue unveiling and event on Saturday? Unfortunately I couldn't due to a long standing family commitment which was gutting for me. I'd heard that there was going to be some additional information given about the potential new site. Did that happen? -

Makes perfect sense … his track craft got him into second in his races but each time the leader was pulling away ….yes the semi looked ok but he passed Kvech who wasn’t doing much The final again showed he had no top line speed -

Does he know he is on the way out? -
So is there any chance the Poole match is going ahead, very awkward for any Poole fans trying to arrange to go up there i would think
-
Weekends yes (or at least Fri/Sat/Sun) but sadly good used tyres are largely like hens teeth. The current rubber barely lasts 4 heats, i suspect if that was the rule you would find riders having to lightly knock the edge off a new tyre just to comply. Throw in that most NL fixtures are run on bald circuits which scrubs any tyre more it will only produce more fallers and lower the already shaky opinion of the league.

The whole thing regarding riders, guests and fixtures is just getting to the farcical stage these days.Fans just losing interest.IMO

Is it a Premiership club as I already stated above we aren't talking about Lydd, Iwade of Linlithgow here? This is a club with riders on 3k guarantees but can't clean a room and everyone making excuses that is ok and it's because they are closing down and there aren't enough volunteers.
-
Track Curators are licenced as are Clerk of Course, Start Marshal etc. But are not paid at the club I volunteer at.
-
At the club I volunteer at all the roles I stated are done by unpaid volunteers.
-
Track curators are paid licenced staff.

Aug 9th was originally Edinburgh so you would think either Scunny or fingers crossed Workington would fill that space -
Not all of those roles are volunteers. If they are at Brum the gtees to riders should have been lower and money made available to pay some of those positions. A track curator being a volunteer at a Premiership club is a very strange concept....
-
I have read many post's & listened to many people on how we should or should not look after the NDL level riders. The biggest hurdle is the expense involved & unless your rider is the next big thing then the chances are that they will need to pay for everything. some things the riders use has to be new (fuel, oil) & we can't get away from that but so far as tyres go there is no reason why they could not make the rule for all riders to use worn rear tyre's it's not like there's a shortage of them. Also the NDL match's should only be on a weekend so for all involved no work or school is affected.

Says the 'pr#tt' who puts a bit of methanol in a riders bike and then thinks he's the clubs official sponsor! 😀
-
Nobody is suggesting that you do away with volunteers....they're the 'un-sung' heroes of all clubs...I'm just pointing out that 45 or so (as you suggest) would have an effect on gate receipts.... I just wonder how many volunteers would pay to attend, if they wasn't volunteers? I volunteered for a few seasons and loved every minute of it until they started asking us to stay behind after the meeting to rake the track....meaning a very late finish, with a fair journey home.... Its the ones who volunteer and don't get to see the meeting (club shop staff etc...) they're the ones who deserve a pat on the back!

BERWICK v EDINBURGH (July 5)
HGould replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Danyon is a good lad, always gives 100% Thoughts and prayers for him and his family. Very unlucky again and many of his injuries just fate at being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery. -
Even in this keyboard warrior social media semi delinquent age, I cannot seriously believe what I am reading here. Top Class Rider Top Class bloke Credit to the Sport and very Club he has ridden for. Clearly has a serious neurological issue that affects his eyesight. Just dwell on that for a minute! Clearly has a serious neurological issue that affects his eyesight. Yet we have people with no compassion no care and probably no understanding of the seriousness of the situation arguing about whether he sould get a 7-28 day exemption, is witholding his services and other clap trap. The guy is in a potentially life changing situation for christs sake. Think of him, his family, his friends and Redcar Speedway. Give your heads a wobble and lets all support Erik and hopefully see him back once he is fully recovered.
