What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
mikebv replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No.. With so few riders needed there will be a surplus so having a few "on stand by" should mean seven rider teams can be delivered without the need for RR and Guests.. The whole sport in the UK is ran solely so riders can ride as much as they can, therefore I am sure those without a DU position will be pleased to fill in where required... -

You are clutching at straws aren’t you, the way you and other Ipswich fans are so desperate for the Championship clubs to fail is absolutely staggering. Now we are just making stuff up to try and prove a point. No championship club so far as I can see post “Official Attendances” so unless you were at every meeting and counting them, which I doubt saying as most Ipswich fans think the standard of racing is so embarrassingly poor they can’t bear to think of it, then I highly doubt that this “Fact” as you’ve presented it can be proven. I also can’t find any “Official Attendance” figures for the grand final either so if you could just point me in the direction of all of the above information please?

I live locally to RH. If anything has been said I've not seen it. Either the owners will have to willingly reinstate the track or the Lea Valley Park will have to force them. I'd say Mildenhall is the most likely if its not Northampton - Yesterday

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?

I have heard rye house is being mooted, I don’t know if there has been a breakthrough with the current situation there -
Pretty much what has been discussed openly on here by various posters Belle Vue - Will have their usual side with couple of riders that need to up their game to be title contenders Leicester- Will have a a real strength in depth feel to them with hopefully strong Rising star( Northampton pending ) will need all the team to be on it to be in with a chance in play offs Kings Lynn- Finally have their No1 and have built a strong team which could be title challengers but have weakest reserves but one could be a future British or world champion given time Ipswich- All change from title winning team with just a couple staying with a familiar face or two returning but will have a great new No1 won’t can master the track may push him on further in the GPs Sheffield- New part owner a very successful businessman but is well known in Speedway especially at Sheffield with strong family connections to the sport . Team wise they will be strong just trying to sort their top end at the moment but will be clear once a rider or two make up their mind about riding in UK. Again expect a couple of familiar faces to return to the Tigers

RR is using declared riders of the team so what is wrong with that or are you saying injuries are not allowed? Or maybe you are simply over reacting. -
You seem in the know Flagrag is there any hope you have heard about in the current sea of darkness for the premier league ?

Been there, done that, look at the record books

2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams

Facts. Josh Pickering dropping Scunthorpe for Sheffield would've only been the start of the revolt. -
Dan will not be a Ipswich and Cooper will be in another part of East Anglia

Marky_Mark replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
How on earth is this to the detriment of the sport, would you have rather that another 5 tracks closed down (remember they weren’t being allowed to join the championship) With the loss of so many tracks over recent years, we need as many running as possible and whilst 5 teams is far from ideal, it’s better than the league not running at all, and buys some breathing space for a year to regroup and come up with a plan for the future without having 5 venues/groups of fans with no speedway in 2026. -

Ah, but they are far-sighted! The rise of the economically inactive over-55's and Gen Z's aversion to night clubs and alcohol will mean Monday night becoming the new Saturday night🤫 -

It should be as it would total 55+ Stick to your South Coast small pond bully boys without the balls to take on the big boys -
Good championship team as well
-
Riders need to guest as well as double up too, don't forget. The only reason two leagues exist is because they need it to, remember.. Heaven forbid they have to get a job outside speedway, like so many did for the majority of the decades when the sport was popular...

Ipswich Witches 2026
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Think that was agreed in August..... -
With only five teams their will be many riders either without a team place of opting out racing in this country. Why not allow these riders to be put on a 'guest list' - from which Promotors can only pick cover for injuries rather than allowing riders from other teams to guest. This would allow Supporters to see different riders rather than track specialists.

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
mikebv replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Will it bollox, Phil... Even Six teams in a "Top League" of a "National Sport" will look exactly like it looks... ie. A waste of time, and a waste of yet another year that could have seen some sense, and forward planning brought to the sport.. All this will do is reduce crowds further... But. At least riders can double up... So. That's got to be worth paying around thirty quid next year to watch them do it.. -

If so will that change the position re the sale of Ipswich The reason for sale was given, at least in part, to not being prepared to race in a 5 team Premiership If it is 5 not including Ipswich could it prompt a U turn from Chris?? I'm not convinced that's going to happen Still more questions than answers at this stage
