I've attended 4 or 5 British meetings since my club closed in 2018. Lawson has been in all of those meetings and every meeting he has turned up late and a few minutes before the start or just after. Sounds like he doesn't do Press and Practice days either. No idea why the clubs allow this sort of behaviour.

The lack of any kind of tv deal has killed it quicker than most expected. You need eyes on the sport and a broadcaster that has reach through their various portals to keep the sport relevant in general. If you're a neutral and don't support a club, unless you are on here you'd pretty much never know when there is a match. The thought that very poor quality streams being sold for 15 quid a pop would be good or save the sport was always a ridiculous opinion that came only from those making money out of it...

Lions v Witches, Monday 6th July
Cross Roads replied to tocha's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Good to see the riders intro at the start line last night and a couple of practise laps far better than the 1 lap intro. Just need some lights fitting above the start line before the dark nights return and I will be a happy..lol Credit to Drew last night thought well worth the rider of the night, For Ippo Musielak was awesome proper racer from memory rode decent last year when Brum was in town, Must say get no joy and a little sad to see Nichols struggling, been such a great servant to this sport over the years and gave many of us so much pleasure in his career maybe the championship is now his level in his final year. All good things come to an end and all that. -
Middlesbrough (Redcar) have already called off their NDL fixture.

010.5 Facilities h) sick or carrying a non-speedway injury. The rider must immediately inform the SCB and their club. A Medical Certificate must be supplied to the SCB within 48 hours of the sickness/injury occurring in which case the rider will receive a mandatory 7 day suspension of his SCB Registration from the day of the first meeting missed.

Championship Predictions 2026
szkocjasid replied to Paddy The Rebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The problem with points per meeting, is that it doesn't show a home / away split. I'd look at away points gained - home points lost (bonus points count half) for a truer "ranking". Although the two systems give pretty similar results anyway. Glasgow + 5 Scunthorpe + 4 Poole + 2.5 Edinburgh + 1.5 Berwick - 0.5 Redcar - 2 Plymouth - 2.5 Oxford - 3.5 Workington - 4.5 After that I'd look at meetings remaining. Oxford only have 2 away matches left, so not much opportunity to increase their "ranking". Berwick have ridden only 1 away match, so plenty opportunities to pick up away points. Interestingly at home every club has ridden 3 or 4 home meetings, so that's very even. Apart from that, you could look at who still has to race Poole at home, as that's the most likely home loss, although less so now Cairns & Rushen are in the top 5. -
Probably delayed due to cleaning his bike and race suit 🤔

I think Jenkins hit the deck in part because Zagar straightened up and slowed, trouble is Jordan was already out of shape and not really anywhere near Zagar so excluding him was correct. Don't understand why Zagar wasn't disqualified too though, he clearly wasn't under power when the red lights went on. One if a number of bizarre calls by a pretty poor ref. Lynn were back to their awful gating ways and got away with a draw really, Northampton could and perhaps should have won that. I'm fearing what's to come on Thursday at Sheffield.

Championship Predictions 2026
szkocjasid replied to Paddy The Rebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Most predictions are based on who can improve their averages, Scunthorpe had one rider who was clearly going to lower his average in Pickering. So they would naturally be ranked low. If you go by current rolling aves Scunthorpe are 3rd lowest fractionally above Workington & Plymouth, who would be higher with Cook or Thomsen, you can't legislate for team changes pre-season. So predictions based on finishing averages would be quite accurate. What Scunthorpe have done, is perform really well in a couple of away matches & if they keep winning at home, will deserve a play-off spot. Well done to them, but I still feel it was a sensible pre-season prediction as you could argue only Pickering & Ingram have exceeded expectations. -
Not needed. The move is allowed as per 011.2 Except where the MA of the introduced rider is equal to, or lower than the rider being replaced. Troy 4.59 Jonas 4.48

Had some great trips to Brandon over the years. The British Final on a hot Sunday afternoon was always a great occasion. Hopefully a CPO will be granted and the consortium with the money can buy the stadium and get it back to what it used to be. Would be great to go to Brandon again for speedway. All the best.

Won't he be banned as deemed to be withholding his services for not turning up, as he had no sicknote?
-
Zagar couldn't replace Batchelor as that would be over the points limit, so had to bring him back for his injury replacement. With management committee "approval" Northampton could now bring Jeppesen back in for Batchelor.

For a professional sportsman, phoning to say you are running late isn't a good look in the first place. But if he's well enough to drive home, he should be well enough to make it to the track to see a doctor right? Be far quicker than using the NHS to get a sickline. -

Troy was trying to practically wave Jody Scott through in heat 12, what on earth is the point of having him in the team? In the top flight at least he is just playing at being a rider. Excellent point for the Foxes though

Stars v Foxes 6th July
Youhave2minutes replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Foxes deserved the win on their performance. One thing I will say is that they have run teams close home and away and for a side chucked together at the last minute they are very credible in their results. -
Of course the sport is on its knees here, just look at this forum, a live meeting used to attract a lot of comments because quite a few would see it, now most threads are only two or three pages, and clubs like Plymouth sometimes don’t even have a thread for a home match. And only recently there was a match between Kent and the Thurrock Hammers, no mention of it at all on here and in fact I only found out about it on the day through seeing a post on twitter, I saw nothing in advance anywhere advertising it which is terrible, I probably would have gone if I had known about it. The sport just keep limping along almost begging for it to be put list of its misery.

In a word, no. The Ben Fund is the only charity in the world to offer the type of help it does. Particularly when you consider those with long term or life changing injuries, or ex riders who perhaps decades after finishing needing treatment for an issue caused by their riding days. Poland do cover a lot of expenses, and the treatment is faster, and often better as there are surgeons who understand speedway injuries. Polish clubs spend a huge amount getting a rider back fit, but there are also examples in the past of riders being paid up front for part of their polish contracts and then having to repay that money to the clubs as they missed meetings too. The Ben Fund is more about supporting riders and families while they’re not earning though with costs of bills etc. Rather than purely paying for treatment.
