As with many seasons, the team was built to lose away but win at home but the loss of an out and out number one meant only 3 home wins and the inevitable drop in crowd numbers - a winning team won’t necessarily bring in more supporters but a losing one certainly keeps them away. There is one rider that has excelled this year but you can bet his phone has been red hot with calls from rival promoters. Not offering him a 2026 team place, of course, as that will breach the rules but saying “if you’re thinking of making a change, you’ve got my number” But the other six need to be moved on as none have been comfortable round EWR. Maybe it’s the change to one of those hard polyfoam barriers - second hand from Glasgow - that has put them off? Whatever the reasons for a disappointing season, the supporters deserve better, in my opinion. And hopefully, that’s what will happen in 2026
