The Witches’ scheduled trip to Sheffield on Wednesday was postponed due to rain, meaning the Suffolk side cannot be caught before the cut-off on Thursday night. It means Ipswich will face a play-off semi-final against champions Belle Vue, starting in Manchester next Monday (September 😎 with the return at Foxhall on Thursday September 11. Witches manager Ritchie Hawkins said: “We are confirmed as top for the play-offs. It is great for us to finish top, we haven’t done that for a long while. “It gives us the second leg in the play-offs which everyone likes if we can progress and win it at home, if we can do that. “That is a long way off, we know we have got two very tough meetings against Belle Vue next week who are the reigning champions.” The other play-off semi-final, to be staged in week commencing September 15, will be between Leicester and Sheffield, with the order of legs to be decided by positions in the league table following Thursday’s fixtures. Premiership CEO Phil Morris said: “Sheffield did all they could to stage their match against Ipswich twice in the last week, and it’s very unfortunate that they were beaten by the weather on both occasions. “The play-offs will be proceeding according to the schedule next week. We already knew Belle Vue were finishing fourth, enabling their home match to be allocated for next Monday some time ago, and their opponents are now known as Ipswich will be top on Thursday night regardless of results.”
  3. The team that finishes top of the league will be the one with most points at the end of the season. (Which will probably still be Ipswich)
  4. Uh oh - let’s hope we don’t see the return of “ the best of commercial interest”
  5. Today
  6. If Ipswich win and Leicester lose then who finishes second without this match happening? One point in the balance and Sheffield are solid at home so could easily win this meeting that keeps getting postponed. If that scenario does happen, then the table will be chosen and not competed for on track.
  7. What fixture do you think Poole should have had? They've completed their home league programme, and the first leg of the KO Cup and BSN semis. Redcar wouldn't come until next Tuesday with visiting Oxford next Wednesday.
  8. There'd never be a wet meeting run with the Holders in town 😁
  9. That’s what you get when you get the ‘business end’ of the season in September, I’m sure many play offs matches will also be affected! One day they will learn!
  10. Think Poole will take a big hit on this one but need to get meeting run.
  11. Denmark 👍 https://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/23604/danish-league-03-09-2025
  12. Also confirmed in the raceday guide that the Witches finish top of the Premiership, so will face Belle Vue in the first Play-Off Semi-Final ... Monday, 8th at the NSS and Thursday, 11th at Foxhall.
  13. Ellis rode tonight in Denmark scoring 11pts from 5 rides !!
  14. The problem is, 'a lot' of speedway fans isn't very many these days unfortunately. I would suggest though, that there's a significant number of football fans that are casual Speedway fans and boost the attendances at big meetings like playoffs & finals, so It's probably best to avoid clashes if possible. I still maintain that the death knell of Cardiff was pitching it against the opening day of the football season.
  15. Sardonic humour in light of Tigers fans suggesting that he got last week called off on his tod.
  16. Who made that decision? You'd think it would benefit both clubs to race it at Scunthorpe? Scunthorpe fans may turn up in greater numbers for one more chance to see Speedway at home before the winter break!
  17. We were on back straight going into 3rd bend and it didn’t look wet to us either, what was different though was the only line was right by fence and that’s not how Wrocław usual is
  18. King,Edwards and Rowe would be missing as they were due to ride premiership tonight. would you either team agree to run a play off match with riders missing.
  19. I asked Rob about this on Friday, he mentioned to me that as the meeting was meant to be a Sheffield staged meeting, it has to be at Sheffield.
  20. If Ipswich and Leicester both win tomorrow night doesn't that mean that Leicester finish second anyway?
