ShanoXtra replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Fair play, all that I heard coming out of Poland was it was a sure thing for Kubera so I’ll see if anything comes out about why he didn’t get picked. Pretty sure you’ve been wrong before but I didn’t say you were talking cr@p 😂 each to their own. -
Sam Hagon would seem the obvious choice of guest or Vinnie Foord.

I think football is going down the same path extending the teams in the world cup to include minority nations that are only going to be cannon fodder for the established nations. - Today

Never a dull day in Polish speedway. The president and co-owner of Fogo Unia Leszno, Piotr R., was detained by the police in connection with an investigation conducted by the National Prosecutor's Office concerning the so-called garbage mafia. https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/1212627/prezes-znanego-klubu-zatrzymany-przez-policje-byl-powiazany-z-mafia-smieciowa

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
stevebrum replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I did say whatever it takes to get both teams in the top flight should be looked at. You fail to see that this isn’t a one league problem. Without top flight standard riders dropping down or doubling up there wouldn’t be a 2nd tier neither! I don’t believe that the top flight has been living well beyond its means at all. Top stars are usually paid mostly thru sponsorship so whilst costs are higher in the top flight it’s foolish to say all top flight clubs can’t sustain a business. The likes of Nigel Tolley are very few and far between. Most of them are very successful business people who manage to make speedway work for them most seasons. So let’s stop saying the top flight is the problem league because this is a UK speedway issue. -

Sheffield - for sale
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Laurence is already involved elsewhere next season,,all to be revealed soon, tolley wants to be somewhere that unfortunately has huge stumbling blocks to overcome and that’s looking unlikely for 2026 so he either has Sheffield or Leicester for 2026 or gives speedway a miss until his desired choice happens -
Yes I am sure that will be changed soon!
-
Yes whoever has been updating fixtures on the website is really struggling at the moment! Currently Redcar v Glasgow (BSN) and v Poole (KOC) same time same date!
-
No more East Midlands if he is to be involved and Sheffield new owners will be successful local business operators with close links to Sheffield Speedway and the sport in general. Both of these does depend on the league format being agreed upon that makes it worth it for both parties
-
Wow, confusion and mixed messages at the BSPL!! who would have thought it?! So Poole complete their league fixtures by the original cut-off date and now get 'penalised' by not having their entitled choice of second leg at home in both play-offs and KO Cup!!
-
So despite Redcar and Poole reaching agreement on dates themselves, someone at BSPL HQ has had a tantrum and thrown their toys out of the pram!!
-
Pray god no utter respect to the old boy for his enthusiasm and willingness to chuck money at the problem but I don't think even a combination of John Berry and Ian Thomas at their peak could make a go of Northampton in the current climate, would love to be proved wrong but just can't see it.

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
The Cheese replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
And with that 'gone list' those that are left include: Kildemand (36), Craig Cook (38), Sedgmen (34), Palm Toft (35), Harris (43), Masters (34), Lawson (40), Kerr (35), Barker (37), Nicholls (47), Wright (38), King (39), Worrall (34), Simon Lambert (37), Batchelor (38), Iversen (43) That's almost all of what would effectively be the top group of riders. If people think they can just about manage to find enough riders to sustain one league now, what about in 3 or 5 years? -
What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
YeOldPitGate replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I do think doubling up will remain a necessary evil if they went two leagues of 8 home and away once to keep the likes of Masters, Harris and Lawson on side you would have to allow them to compete in both leagues , I'm really thinking maintain the current status quo but with eight teams shortened season over say four months May, June, July , August when weather should be favourable. Reduced losses also the first struggle thought would be to get the bottom four teams up to a half decent standard so they weren't getting whipped every week like Oxford and Brum which would somehow mean getting 3-5 additional top line riders back to the UK.
