  1. Past hour
  2. I'm sure I could fathom it out if I bothered to look into it. I just haven't. Presumably it's always been like that anyway with regards to semi final qualification etc., even going back to the A, B, C, D final. For example, today Doyle and Michelsen both scored 10, but in that old system one would have been in the A final and one would have been in the B final. For me, I was never that keen on the race points counting as GP points. I felt it made the final less interesting.
  3. This is the main downside with it, I agree with you on that. It'd be lovely to sit down and know every rider can score a maximum of 21, and once, for example, Zmarzlik gets to X on the night then Kurtz cannot win. It takes away from it a lot when nobody knows, or only one boffin has worked it out.
  4. At the end of the day I and a lot of people on here hate this scoring system, but everybody knew at the start of the season. So if it does come down to the one point that Zmarzlik scored in the sprints and it's the difference between one of them coming world champion, then thats the rules.
  5. This is the problem, we as speedway fans, not even newbies can't fathom out the scoring system, it's just too fluid with far too many permutations going into the last races, you have to sit there with a conversion chart! Should be fun and games trying to work out the last GP if it's not a straight first and 2nd!
  6. H man is a top man who knows his speedway, great post and hope your not lost to our sport mate
  7. Lindgren didn't get an "extra point". He finished 11th. The rider who finishes 11th gets 6 points. You get points for the position you finished in the meeting. It's not hard. If a football team wins 6-0 do they get 6 points? No. they get 3. If a tennis player wins 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 do they win 16-12? No. they win 2-1. Scoring systems are what they are and that is what you ride/play to. Personally, I like the A, B, C, D final that they used to have. But at least this way the winner of the final gets the most points - which didn't always happen when it was based on race points. With regards to countback, I've no idea how it works. I'm assuming Lindgren finished above Kvech because he beat him when they raced? Is that correct? Or is it because he had a race win? However it is worked out, Lindgren finished the meeting ahead of Kvech so gets the points for that position. Easy peasy.
  8. Yep, barely anything in it. And, as someone on here pointed out a while back, Bartosz seems to focus his attention primarily on his closest challenger (Kurtz, in this case). If the sprint race didn't exist, or 1st place counted double every other week, or finals in Poland only had 3 laps, or virtually anything else, I'm almost certain Bartosz would adapt and ride to those conditions. He's phenomenal and so is Kurtz for pushing him. I genuinely think Kurtz could be a big player for a long time.
  9. It seems they are making a concentrated effort to diminish the championship, while inferring they are doing the opposite. I watched my local team at home today beaten 2-0m deservedly so as they were crap. Not only because they didn't make the effort, but also because they didn't seem interested in making the effort. Watched this GP and they same thoughts entered my head One of the reasons you know the GP's are diminished is, back in the day, you would get 40 to 50 pages of comment regarding a meeting, now you're struggling to get 10 pages. Says it all really, when folk don't have anything to say
  10. He admitted he made the wrong decision on the gate in the final.Did he not make a dodgy decision at the previous Gp and Freddie messed him up coming out of the 2nd bend. Thats life though.
  11. I’m ten minutes inland from Berwick and the rain has been mild! We brought the washing in because it is a bit damp. If the track was on my doorstep could a meeting have gone ahead? Yes!! But I’m self employed and work outside I’m at the same mercy as the promoters are. The forecast has been useless this and last year. I’ve lost many days of income because the forecasters have got it wrong. The prediction for tonight was awful and the correct decision was made, hopefully saving Workington quite a lot of money and I’d hope any team would do the same for us. It’s one thing to miss out on income because of the weather and another for it to cost you.
  12. And that "only 1 point" could be the difference between a gold and a silver... If it were a tie, what decides it, do we know? (R&R?)
  13. One League next year. Has to be. Five man teams. And no Play Offs.
  14. I don't think it works that way. Nick Morris was signed on his 2023 rolling average, which consisted of matches from 2022 & 2023. Once he rode a match in 2025, his 2022 meetings were dropped, rolling average only counts last 3 seasons (23,24,25). As they didn't change Morris' last ave, I don't see why they would change Lambert's last ave. He may have an assessed 8.00, but can't see them counting 2 home & 4 away.
  15. Zmarzlik has scored 10 pts in the sprints to Kurtz's 9 so only 1 point gained
  16. Its crazy. That the BSN Trophy. Has not been ridden. Qualifying meetings in April/May. And still havent had the Final. Complete farce.
  17. As well as comparing Fricke's score to Holder, what about Lindgren. Fricke 11 points = 7 GP points Lindgren 5 points = 6 GP points For the people who like the scoring system, saying it makes the last 3 heats matter, can you explain why Lindgren deserves an extra point when not good enough to make last 3 heats? Or why Lindgren deserves one more point than Kvech (who also scored 5) because he had a better "countback"? Is there any sensible reason why they couldn't both gain 5 points? Huckenbeck & Vaculik 4 each, Lambert & Kubera 3 each?
  18. Agree and it is sad that notwithstanding the passing of time, the sport has so much going for it but if you go back to the basics of a motorcycle that has 500cc engine with no brakes that is capable of achieving a 0 - 60 faster than most motorised forms of transport and riders who generally have honed the skills to tame these machines and can control them on what is comparative to riding on an ice rink or riding bikes on marbles, why can it not attract a generation of new followers who are risk takers? Those followers hopefully understand just what it takes to do what the top guys do to achieve the ultimate challenge and goal. However I really don’t think those in charge know how to sell the sport to the wider audience and It is not rocket science, the Poles do it without a problem. Look at the play offs in Poland at either end of the table to see what can be achieved
  19. You can't... But.... This lad would be pushing any of the all time greats..... Given he is already one of them...
  20. What a load of whingers. It was an absolute pleasure to watch the soon to be best of all time at his brilliant best. Brady Kurtz is a more than worthy opponent, the man simply cannot be rattled. An excellent stadium, great atmosphere and the 2 best riders in the world leaving nothing out there - there is zero to be unhappy with. I might agree that it'd be a shame if Kurtz loses because of a sprint race - except he knew as well as Bartosz (and the others) the rules of the game, and there were lots of opportunities to score outside of one sprint race. I can't wait for Vojens to see how it'll play out, it'll be a shame for whoever has to lose in this epic. I wish I was going!!
  21. Promoters can’t really win these days unless it’s guaranteed dry.Riders dictate and just want to put the bike in the van at the slightest raindrop.
