  1. Past hour
  2. Don't see how you can force anyone to move up imo, unless the others are willing to pay for any losses that club has. Riders wages seem to be the biggest issue here. Sure i heard somewhere that Chris Harris would be on double what he is on in the championship. So no wonder why Glasgow don't want to move up! Just because their owners have a lot of money doesn't mean they want to lose some of it on a league that looks like it is crumbling. If they need a championship team to move up then they need to compromise on some of the deal breakers, if that is even possible.
  3. Sadly, Birmingham would still have closed due to their stadium being demolished. As for Oxford, running three teams is also a drain on fans resources and a drain on the wallet to attend all meetings and so had to choose who to watch. although there must be some truth that a stronger first team could have seen improved attendances for the Spiers, its more than likely the fans chose to attend more meetings of the Cheetah's because they had the better home record of winning matches.
  4. I find it unbelievable that a professional sport isn’t ran in a professional manner with promotion and relegation etc. Every meeting will then more or less have something riding on it . That’s got to provide better racing. Which may attract bigger crowds. None of these going through the motions meetings. And none of these so called top level clubs and we know who they are , dictating to the sport, when where and what level they’re only prepared to race at . I keep seeing people saying that no rider is bigger than the sport. Well I reckon certain clubs definitely think they are , dictating the terms. It’s a joke. And any sport allowing this certainly looks like one from outsiders as well as those that have an interest in it.
  5. No Lisa they will have to use their wallets!
  6. And the tv deal is with ……… ? otherwise what’s the point of the Premiership?
  7. I wonder if the BSPL are talking to the new President of the WSRA to see if any 'encouragement' can be brought to the Eastbourne situation?! Just a thought............!
  8. Well can thank the ‘Elite’ league for the state speedway is now in. Future young riders are totally dependent on the investment by their parents and the cost of that is colossal. All this talk of a club being ‘forced’ to go Premiership is purely conditional on a TV deal otherwise where’s the money coming from?
  9. Today
  10. Someone will blink, Just a case of who it's going to be. Oxford might be forced into a U-Turn against their will that see's CHAMP being dropped for PREM but this time given assurances of a No.1 and financial help if needed. BSPL Chairman Godfrey will have to take one for the team, But gets to keep Pickering to build a PREM 1-7 around.
  11. We'll get a PREM, Just got to wait for the inevitable to happen. Northampton or Peterborough is the get out clause for CHAMP Clubs. If those avenues become a dead end, Then a CHAMP Club will be sacrificed even if they don't like it.
  12. Once the inevitable sacrifical lamb has been caught then we can get on with some signing announcements. I wouldn't be surprised if Teams were to go down the Sheffield 2025 route when they announced 6 Riders in 1 video package instead of the usual the drip feeding announcements that we normally get. Patience is key and the season doesn't start for at least 4 Months.
  13. I think (& sincerely hope) that there is plenty going on behind the scenes to magic up a 6th team for the Premiership. Sad thing is, with a better controlled points limit, and a fairer sharing out of heat leaders they might not have lost 2 teams and got themselves into this pickle. Still, I hope that it works out somehow.
  14. Appalling silence from BSPL so far. Hopefully they are taking due care and time over producing a statement. On the other hand, they could be either doing headless chicken or ostrich impersonations.
  15. If you force a team to go up and they decide not to run for a year rather than lose a fortune what then?
  16. So what happens if we get to January and there are still only 5 confirmed prem teams? Does the premiership have a year off? Is a team forced to move up against there will?
  17. I certainly got the impression he enjoyed his time at Peterborough.
  18. Yes if he would ride for rising star money because his performances during his stint in the uk just about warranted them
  19. If the Panthers run, I wouldn't be surprised to see Laguta back in British Speedway. He really enjoyed his time at Peterborough.
  20. Inevitable means certain to happen. So why not announce it then. The other problem with that plan is the current 5 premiership teams will have their teams sorted and that only leaves the left overs for the 6th club. But that's absolutely fine with Ipswich,Belle Vue, and Sheffield & Co isn't it.
  21. 1990/1991 close season was the beginning of the end of my love affair with speedway. As a NL fan, it was decimated by the Stewkesbury Plan and within 2 years, Milton Keynes, Mildenhall, Wimbledon and my own beloved Hackney had all bitten the dust. Apart from a few matches during the London Lions season of '96, i haven't regularly attended since and living just outside Bristol as I do now, I probably never will again, merely following the sport through this site and the updates for results.
  22. Well a number of people on here have mentioned about what is the point of clubs attending this event. From our perspective, our stall was very popular and was crowded pretty much all day. I practically lost my voice by the end of the day. A very large number of supporters from all over the country joined our monthly Forever Fund lottery, which has been set up not only to help with legal costs (contributed just under a third so far) but to assist us in the future. From that view it was massively worthwhile. If anyone on here wants to join, it costs £10 a month with cash prizes up for winning every month. Each month people receive a newsletter with results and details of companies nationwide offering discounts on products and services. Sarah Miles runs the fund, for more information about the fund or to join email panthersforeverfund@gmail.com
  23. That's not a definite. His Polish mechanic was quoted as saying that Tai was going to concentrate solely on Poland. However, just a couple of weeks later Woffy then said himself he hasn't ruled out racing in the UK next season, his phone is always on and is willing to talk.
  24. Just get a Bolt taxi from the app. Fixed price, cheap & no problems Don't take "normal" taxi's from airport.
  25. Exactly one of the reasons why no one will move up. A team of riders who other teams don't want. Great plan 🙄🙃 You'd think some of the Prem promoters would use their brain a bit more if they are desperate for a sixth team.
  26. I'm sure PREM Clubs have got deals done behind the scenes. Imo they're just waiting for the inevitable 6th PREM Team to be confirmed before signing announcements are made.
