Or so we thought. Now looks like being 1st v 3rd & 2nd v 4th ? Of course this may not happen if the “powers in charge”decide the two remaining fixtures are not held so saving face.

Ipswich v Sheffield 4th September

To me it was a nothing meeting where riders were probably testing things, Doyle arrived late, not ideal, he is riding better now but no point in taking any risks. I expect they were told no risks. Dan T should really be at 2 in my opinion especially at home, King should be at 3. They still should have won this meeting easily but I would expect a different result in the play offs. -
Just hope this mum puts his "gating gloves" on a string now.

What about Northampton?

Louis with the backing of Tru Group could be a shout. They already have a good working relationship with Deane Woods at Ipswich. -
... and all on the back of an army of volunteers that move heaven and earth each week to enable tracks to stage meetings and riders to earn money.

Because you're not the all conquering team you think you are, as shown in the league table standings, Sheffield should probably have finished top, so no disgrace in losing to them at home and 4th placed Belle Vue were only 6 league points adrift at the end of the season. With the way Doyley & Emil were riding last season you were clearly the team to beat, this season both riders have been performing well below those standards. I agree about the riding order though you've got to have your best 2 riders at 1 and 5 as there is the likelihood of a big points swing with a 5-1 in heat 13

In my calculations they are one point behind so if there was an unusual race result like a 5-0 it could be a draw overall, unlikely but it is possible. - Today

So how it is worked out because there is no guarantee they would have a better points difference. -

No! Although some Belle Vue's wins were before Poole existed. Loved the rivalry we had, great times. -
Well, in the words of Fabrizio, "HERE WE GO" ipswich have had the upper hand in the league phase but that now means nothing, belle vue go into this under no pressure as everyone thinks Ipswich are winning easy, i dont think that myself, i keep banging the same drum but this is what belle vue do, look dreadful in league outings and then show up in play offs, just hope the same happens again, For me this will be won or lost on Monday, id be looking at a 12 point win to take to ipswich, Weather wise it looks OK, although to early to tell, things could change

Ipswich will certainly need to ride better than that next week. For me it looks like Thompson isn’t fully fit & possibly riding too much. The team has been inconsistent for the last couple of months. Sheffield deserved that last night far shaper & more up for it. Now I’m not the biggest fan of Jack Holder or Simon Stead. However last night Jack demonstrated how to team ride hats of to him & Stead came across very well in his post match interview, and seemed genuinely thankful for the amount Ipswich raised for the riders benefit fund. A disappointing night all round for Ipswich but not the end of the world, could be if they ride like that next week! Finally what a talent Cooper Rushen is, his third ride in the second half 0.1 of a second slower than heat 2 of the main meeting. -
Money is the root of all evil and finances are restricted to have one league. Travelling expenses and the present lack of fans and sponsorship would be the downfall of one league. It would make financial sense to split into North and South making a league cup where they all meet more interesting and hopefully give fans what they want.

they clearly mean having the second leg at home -
The only problem with that. It doesn't matter how professional they are if they are riding in front of just a couple of hundred people. You could say some of these riders live in a Fantasy world. You have riders of junior standard turning up with big flash vans all the gear. If it means going back to having one bike in the boot of the car, then maybe you will get youngsters who can afford to do the sport like it use to be. Rather than having rich Mums and Dads to rely on. Having said all of that. Speedway unfortunately is a dying sport. It's been on life support for a while now. Speedway was of a different time back in it's heyday. Demographics have changed. No London clubs. No midland clubs bar Leicester. It's sad but it's reality.

Seems a bit odd having Doyle at No.3. Think I'd want Emil and Doyle at 1 & 5 for heat 13. Surely he'll want them at 1&5 next week against Kurtz & Bewley? -

I was at foxhall tonight and it was the flattest meeting I've witnessed this season...why is Hawkins messing with riding orders (everyone know Adam rides best with Jason and Dan with Emil and Danny and Tom hardly ever team ride) and then right from heat 1 to 15, it was a sh*t show... how can Danny get his Foxhall bike set up so wrong after all these years... why did Adam only turn up for one heat... and heat 15 I can't get my head around it... -
Why have a North / South split? So few teams could easily have all teams meeting once home & away.

I would hope no team manager would ever tell a rider to throw a race to keep his average below a teammate, same with Leicester wanting Becker to be 2nd in the averages when injured. By all means tell a certain rider(s) to pick up bonus points on 5-1s / 3-3s but certainly don't tell them to drop points on purpose. -

Both teams race at home in the play-offs -
I think one league. The way i look at it is if we lose the top riders then so be it. the standard of riders will be the same so good close racing should be at every track and league will be well balanced. We have a range of different tracks compared to poland so if riders want to improve and learn how to adjust to all tracks they should want to ride in the uk.
