  1. Thanks for the reply I usually sit around the start finish line or just after.

sat on bend four for last years Peter Craven meeting and it was ok, may try and get some photos if the security allow !

  2. I have a ticket for the GB v Poland event but at the moment dont think ill chance travelling up.

  3. I knew about the potential train strike but did not know if it was definitely going ahead on every service, the Ashfield to Queen street service is very handy.

No 75 bus it is then through Saracen cross!

  4. Hi Phil

when do the BSPA/SCB step in and close a club over un paid debts, I,m sure there are, have been many clubs who are in debt or have not paid riders?

I find it strange the promoters agreed to the fixture list at the start of the season with so many large gaps between meetings (financial suicide), then the fixtures were changed again half way through the season.

At Workington its not weekly Speedway, its every four to five weeks.

Is it any wonder fans are disillusioned by the sport, never mind the poor promotion, long drawn out meetings (this is much better now) and amateur way of running things.

    Thank you.

    Paul Robinson.

  5. With the way things are going I cannot see us finishing the season, I was really surprised we started in all honesty .

The promotion may have good intentions but need a sound business plan , this has not been helped by the weather and the BSPA.

Klindt didn't like the conditions, they didn't seem to bother Chris Harris, Ty Proctor, Richie Worrall etc so yes, I agree on that score, it's not a good example to set to everyone else?

I thought at season start that if "all" our riders did what they average and maybe improve on it a bit we would seriously upset a lot of this league's teams and the way we seemed to be going it was going to be well better than even that!!

But for seemingly no good reason we have gone back to the form of seasons past, losing poorly away and performing moderately at home, no way will that bring in new supporters or get back the old ones? It always appears to be this business of non payment of wages that has been the achilles heel for any type of performance complaint and if it is ever to go away the promotion or, preferably the riders, should state quite categorically that money is not the issue then at least we can put that to bed and concentrate on the "real" reasons behind the lapses in performance, only then I feel will we get to the bottom of it all?

Crowd levels I simply dont see improving because speedway, in my eyes, is a dying sport in this area, far too many blank weekends, too many changes to the norm, too much accomodation of individual rider needs are being put above the welfare of the club, it's all killing the interest in and will eventually kill off the club?

In Britain you cant earn a living from speedway alone so riders go where the money is and spread themselves too thin, something has to give and it's usually British speedway that loses that battle, we will very probably fall victim to that sooner rather than later?

Good points, maybe it’s time we had less foreign riders to cut back on the riders going missing and had a slightly “weaker” teams then at least we might have Speeedway on a more regular basis.

Next year will probably see me visit Belle vue Glasgow and Cardiff for my Speedway fix because there will be no one to take over Workington when this season finally crawls over the line in September.

It's certainly got to the point where overseas riders are more of a liability now than they once were?

Perhaps if they weren't allowed to race for more than two clubs we could get away with them but that is always regarded as restraint of trade and wouldn't be allowed so, what do you do?

This fixture list was drawn up to promote British speedway by not having fixture clashes with double up/down riders, all well and good if this was the only country they raced in....but it isn't and therein lies the problem, overseas clubs get priority over just about any rider riding for any club over here so, why do we pick them in the first place?

I've only managed two meetings this year and this move from the start of July right thru to seasons end of mainly Friday night meetings will probably not see much of my money and if that's the case my speedway will be as far as YouTube video's!!

Completely agree with your last sentence coz the way this club and the sport has imploded over the last three/four years there's no way anyone would be stupid enough to take on speedway under the current climate?

  6. see the fanzone for the team Tony.
