Recommended Posts

Newcastle rider Harry Huntly 1929/30 was the tallest ever. visit www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk ....pre war pages to read and see pictures of Harry

Are there other exceptionally tall riders who can give Harry at 6ft 8ins a run for his money??

Arthur Browning couldn't have been too far off that in the 1970's when he rode for Birmingham, but 6ft 8" is amazing....... his leg must have trailed beyond the back wheel.

I don't think that either Andy Reid or Arthur Browning were even 6'4", which is how tall Canterbury's Graham Miles was. However, 6'8", well...

Steve, I was only 11 when I got Andy Reid's autograph in 1982 so everyone seemed a lot taller then :)

IMO the style riders use can make them look taller on the bike always thought Tom Owen looked big on is bike but was not that tall really. As for bid Arthur he just looked awkward but got round and scored the points, nice fellow as well.

Paul Gould who many of you may remember for kickstarting his career in 1999 adding a fantastic 3 points on his average under the guidance of KBS and co, that boy was about 7"4.
