We are speaking to Jonas at the moment, but haven't got confirmation as to his availability. Unfortunately, Davy Watt will be with Eastbourne at Ipswich for a re-arranged meeting.

Wellie gave us permission to include a Reading team and he's been away til recently. I'll be speaking to him soon regarding their team manager. I can confirm, however, that Rosco will manage the Swindon team, Colin Pratt will take charge of the Cradley side and Colin Meredith will look after the Oxford team.

More soon.

Cheers

Patch

It might be a good idea to invite Mark Legg to team manage the Racers-it would help increase the crowd as i imagine there would be a long line of people wishing to speak to him ! !

Great news is that the Oxford Mail gave us the back page today, and Gary Patchett was on Radio Oxford yesterday and is again on Saturday I believe.

All the best

Rob

Pleased to say that events are causing significant interest from the Cradley perpective, whilst its going to be difficult to organise mass support, given that most folk work till 4.30pm in local industry,& will need to use holiday entitelment etc, initial enquiries would suggest a fair dose of the famous black country accent round Swindon way come the day!.

The major local newspaper,(express & star) & BBC radio WM are also prepared to assist, although we have them concentrating on next wednesdays junior 2nd half at Brum for now!, with the "Biggie" at Swindon (the first time the Heathens have competed in a full meeting for a decade) to follow.

HSSC also have a social evening with Nigel Pearson on Thursday 28th May, at the new Liberal Club in Cradley heath High St, admission free for members, & just £1 for non members.

Many thanks to Gary for what should turn out to be a very well attended, and popular event, highlighting the current & unnaceptable position of three of British Speedways most successful & well supported teams.

GJEDDE MAKES IT TWO FOR RACERS

CHARLIE Gjedde is the second name to be added to the Reading squad for the four team tournament taking place at Swindon this summer.

Gjedde joins the already announced Phil Morris in a Racers side that will take on the home club, Cradley Heath and Oxford at the Abbey Stadium on Thursday July 30 (7.30pm).

The Dane was a popular figure with the supporters during his two spells with the Berkshire side and his addition ensures that the team will have riders who have had a strong link with the club in the past.

Gjedde first rode for Reading in 2001 in the Premier League where he established himself as one of the top riders in the division. He then joined Swindon the following season and remained with the Robins when they moved up to the Elite League.

Following the takeover of Benfield Sports International (BSI) Reading stepped up to the Elite League themselves on the eve of the 2006 campaign, and this signalled Gjedde’s return to Smallmead.

He played an integral part of the team’s success that season when the then named Reading Bulldogs narrowly lost out in the play-off final to the Peterborough Panthers.

Swindon’s staging promoter Gary Patchett said: “Charlie’s addition in the team means we are able to track another popular rider who’s previous ridden for the Racers.

“He’s riding for Belle Vue at the moment but still has a liking for the Swindon circuit and I think it’s fair to say he’s track specialist at the Abbey Stadium.

“Preparations for the meeting are going extremely well and we hope to be able to announce more names shortly.”

Tickets for the meeting will be available to purchase online from www.swindon-speedway.co.uk in the coming days.

An admission ticket which includes coach travel to and from the Abbey Stadium will also be available for travelling supporters from Reading, Oxford and Cradley.

SWINDON asset Mads Korneliussen is the latest confirmed starter for July's Four Team Tournament at the Abbey Stadium.

The popular Dane will slot into Cradley's squad for the event and joins Adam Shields and Paul Fry in the Heathens' team.

Korneliussen's inclusion gives the Cradley Heath side a Danish flavour and the Black Country side has a proud tradition of tracking successful riders from the Scandinavian nation.

It is intended to include an American in the Heathens' line up Cradley fans will also be excited to learn.

Korneliussen is well known to Swindon fans after spending a four year spell with the club. The Dane first linked up with the Robins during 2005 in a doubling up capacity with Premier league Newport.

Korneliussen joined Swindon on a full contract in 2006 and spent three successive seasons with the Robins during which he enjoyed plenty of success.

The Dane is spending the 2009 season on loan at Peterborough but is always assured a warm welcome at Blunsdon.

Because they are utterly clueless and seem incapable of doing anything to support a promoter who makes any effort to move the sport forward.

Brilliant effort from Gary to put this meeting together and make it a talking point 3 months before it takes place. This is a chance for the people of Oxford, Reading and Cradley to show how much they are missing their speedway and get behind in the case of Reading and Oxford an initiative led by their fiercest rivals.

It does seem astonishing that the promoter of Swindon is trying to do a favour for 3 of the UK's oldest and most successful clubs and a load of clueless no names are trying to make it as difficult as they can to make it work

Trying to promote speedway..............they will never let it catch on

Good post Chris ..i agree its a fine guesture by Gary and hats off to the way Swindon are pushing and promoting this...as for the B.S.P.A.......

RICO MAKES RACERS RETURN

LEE Richardson is the third rider to be named in the Reading team for the Four Team Tournament taking place at Swindon on Thursday July 30 (7.45pm).

Richardson joins Phil Morris and Charlie Gjedde in a Racers side that will compete against the home team, Cradley Heath and Oxford at the Abbey Stadium.

‘Rico’ is a rider who has had a long association with Reading having started his career with the club as a 16-year-old in 1995. After a difficult debut season in the sport he went out on loan to Poole the following year, but his return to Smallmead in 1997 was to be the turning point in his career.

He led the Racers to the 1997 Premier League Championship and assisted by an awesome 9.96 average then helped them lift the KO Cup in 1998.

With his career now heading in the right direction he made the step up to the Elite League with Poole in 1999 and to complete a successful season amongst the world’s top stars he was also crowned World Under-21 Champion.

Now established as one of Britain’s top riders Coventry signed from Reading him on a full-transfer for the 2000 campaign and he went onto enjoy four years with the ambitious Brandon outfit.

He then spent 2004 on loan at Peterborough, but a change of ownership took place again when a club record deal of £32,000 saw him transferred to Swindon in 2005.

The Great Britain international has also had other loan spells with Eastbourne and Lakeside, but Reading is where he cut his cloth as a rider and he still has a great affection for the club.
