To be held at Peterborough, should be a corker, if....

people arent injured, or can be bothered, havent gone home already, busy with other things, the normal excuses.

Kenny Bjerre must start as red hot favourite.

Roll on that Saturday :approve:

Looks like you need to drop the 'L' out of this title - it's now an open meeting!

Wasn't this announced as being at Coventry?

Also difficult to list Bjerre as favourite when this was supposed to be the 'elite riders championship' including riders who aren't riding over here this season.

ELITE SHOWDOWN AT THE SHOWGROUND

THE biggest individual meeting of the domestic

calendar will be staged at the East of England Showground.

The Elite Riders’ Open Championship – for the first time open to riders

who aren’t racing in Britain this year – will be at Peterborough on

Saturday, October 16.

It’s a major coup for the Readypower Panthers who also host the plum

Premier League Four Team Championship Finals on Sunday, August 15.

Co-owner Rick Frost said: “It’s great news for us and our fans – and I’m

sure it is going to be tremendous entertainment for everyone.

“Outside this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Cardiff there won’t be a

bigger individual meeting all season.”

Super 7even series co-ordinator David Hoggart said: “We are delighted to

have the prospect of some of the world’s top stars riding at

Peterborough in the Elite Open meeting.

“I think it’s a great idea to throw it open to those riders not in UK

action – they will enjoy the Showground track and I’m sure the fans will

enjoy it too.

“It’s a little early to say who will be in the meeting as we’re putting

our energy into the Four team Tournament for now but will give updates

as and when we get them.”

The East of England Showground has always been recognised as one of the

most exciting tracks in Britain and in the past has hosted a World Under

21 Final as well as a round of the Speedway World Cup last summer.

Added Rick Frost: “It has always been my intention to put on the very

best at the Showground and this is another feather in our collective cap.

“We will be putting our all into the Premier League Fours and the Elite

League Riders’ Open to make sure riders and fans enjoy them both.”

It had been listed as Coventry, date TBC in the programs all season but I did notice last week that it just had to details TBC so I assumed we could no longer hold it or it had been taken from us.

I find it odd that two Super7 events are being held at Peterborough, I'm not saying this should be held at Coventry as we had it last year but I think they should just spread them around more.

Given his Grand Prix form and home track I think it's a fair comment.

Believe a VERY good line up is expected!

Would it be too sensible to have the Number 1's from the 9 Elite League clubs and then issue 7 invites?

That is what it is.

I would expect one of the other Peterborough heat leaders to get one of the invites do that leaves 6.

Isn't Emil over around that time for Leigh Adams farwell? Crump and Pedersen live fairly local, and I would love to have Gollob over - would swell the crowd with Poles

Don't know for certain, but it's on the Peterborough fixture list, where it says all meeting's start at 7.30 unless stated, and it says nothing different on this date.
