So you would agree with me that the best outcome of the winter dispute would've been for Coventry and Peterborough to have been excluded from the Elite League?

NOT sure this is the right place for this subject, but no I wouldn't. That is where you and I seem to fundamentally disagree. I don't accept it is for the good of speedway anywhere, let alone the UK, for tracks to close. There were rights and wrongs on both sides during the winter. Far better, in my opinion, for the tracks to continue and for the problems that brought about the dispute be resolved. However, I still think that can only be achieved by an outside agency and as far as I know it was the BSPA rather than Coventry and Peterborough who didn't want that to happen.

starting to look like the speedway world all over has bad managemet decision making!

I recall reading a comment on sportowefakty.pl around the time the riders started to crumble (when Janowski et al signed a letter asking to be allowed to ride on the new silencer abroad) to the effect that the PZM and GKSZ were manipulating the riders all along. It begins to look that way. I don't think the PZM and GKSZ ever really wanted to stay with the old silencer.

THERE was a suggestion at the time that when the Polish riders threatened the PZM regarding the new silencers by stating that they were "dangerous and would cause accidents" the authorities responded by saying that if they were dangerous to ride in Poland they must be everywhere else, hence the threat of withholding their services in the UK, Sweden, Denmark and, of course, FIM events.

Once the riders started using them that argument collapsed and there was no need for the PZM to be wary of legal action in the event of any crashes. And, of course, as much as riders may dislike the new silencers, they would prefer to use one type rather than have different engines and set-ups just for the Polish leagues.

The riders from Lodz seem unimpressed with the new silencer:

And they're not the only ones from Poland's third largest city upset at the decision of the GKSZ. The Lodz club is funded by Witolda Skrzydlewski and the club's "honourary president" is his daughter Joanna. Joanna Skrzydlewska is also a Civic Platform MEP and Member of the Polish Sejm. Civic Platform is the senior party in Poland's coalition government. Ms Skrzydlewska is so unimpressed with the GKSZ and PZM that she's demanded they explain themselves, while at the same time petitioning the Under Secretary for Tourism and Sports to look into the decision:

Meanwhile, Andrzej Witkowski, the head of the PZM gives his opinions, including, it seems, an undertaking to review the position if the expense involved for riders is too great:

I'm so glad I said "carry" not "pull" now.

So am I, manchesterpaul would've been horrified with a post about "pulling off".

Is it confirmed now? Last I read there was some wrangling going on between Opole and Tarnow over the terms of his loan. As I understood it, Tarnow were looking to recoup most of the dosh they forwarded to Rempala during the close season. It is standard procedure for clubs in Poland to advance monies to riders in order to assist with preparation for the season. It's not a situation that Gorzow think much of, especially after coughing over a tidy sum to the now injured Hans Andersen. I think it is also the root of the trouble between Rybnik and Jesper B Monberg.
