Belle Vue Colts Apply For National League

Recommended Posts

What would happen to the plans, - 10 add'l mtgs at Kirk Lane - , if the NL grows to 14-16 teams, as is possible ?

Can they be fitted in?

Brilliant news - the quality of racing in Octobers match versus the US Tourists was top drawer. I hope it is a success.

Good news!

Belle Vue Colts were good additions to the 3rd tier when they ran in 1997!

The more teams the better as far as I'm concerned cause that means more riders getting team places!

This is great news but the fans must support it. We have seen before where a club runs 2 teams that the junior team does not get the support. National league speedway is great to watch.

Rose tinted specs perhaps, but love your enthusiasm

Excellent news , would like to see more clubs especially the E/L clubs follow suit ( if possible), this can only help British Speedway , but as has been mentioned before the fans Must support the team

When i first heard this idea i wasn`t to excited but a couple days later and thought about it. it`s a great idea, it means we can race against teams from the "NORTH" and even have meetings against local sides or close to local. As Buxton stands outs along with Scunthorpe, Stoke and Dudley. As it would make a change our fans not having to drive about 6 or more hours down south everytime.

Be great to see the Heathens ride our track once again and them bringing there huge support to kirkylane, along with the other teams nearby. Hope it happens as someone said one of the best meetings we had last year was the Colts v the US touring team. FINGERS CROSSED IT HAPPENS!

Could they not just do what some teams did in the early days of the Amateur league/Conference League? 2 tracks sharing a team. Swindon/Reading, Newport/Exeter and Kings Lynn/Someone shared teams didn't they?

This is all great news but just where are the riders coming from.Last year the National league was a good product and a good standard of riders. But if more teams are to come in the riders will have to be spread around, meaning a drop in standards because there is not enough to go around. And we all know how a drop in standards as done for the Elite league.

That's a whole different kettle of fish though, the EL is our nations top tier, the standard should be as high as possible. To say there's not enough riders for the NL Is a falsity, even if we lost the Aussies/Kiwis in the third tier. The solution is a slightly lower points limit, then teams would be encouraged to track two young three pointers, thus giving more young Brits that first step on to the speedway ladder. I hope the Colts run next year, in a NL with as many team as is possible. Not as many as is convenient.

This has to be great news for Northern Speedway and young riders, lets just hope the Fans support the idea, it has to be the way forward, and ALL EL/PL Teams that own there own Track should be going this way, i personally would not be at all surprised to see Plymouth running a NL Team if the planning conditions allow.

So much for the doom and gloom merchants who forcast tough times for the NL in 2011, seems to me its only the Hierarchy further up the Speedway ladder who hold back the NL, if only the BSPA had the foresight to filter down a little of the SKY money to the NL then i am sure The NL and the development of YOUNG British riders would Thrive once again.

Last year up north they had JUNIOR LEAGUE ,BUT COULD NOT FIND ENOUGH RIDERS TO RACE IN IT.Berwick had to field Jonathan Swales and Peter Johnson,Halifax had paul Burrnet and two girl riders,so if they cant find enough to fill these teams how are we going to find them for National League teams. If you get ridd of Aussies ect just take Buxton as a example they will loose Morris, branford, they also loose cook and if Belle Vue run it looks like they loose Garrity.so buxton will be looking for four riders,Bele Vue looking for a team Stoke ,milden hall,thats25 plus all others who loose Aussies.so thats about 30 riders who can put on a show.were the hell are they coming from? ps sorry for shouting it was a mistake.

We lose Plymouth, Bournemouth and potentially Weymouth. That's 27 riders there in theory. Plus 4 or 5 moving up from the u15's gives you the riders.
