Najjer 2,890 Posted February 23, 2013 On the other hand there is a rider fans would love to see back, Claus Vissing in this weeks Star, says he wants a team place in Britian, he said money is not a big issue and wants to have some fun doing what he loves. He added he had hoped to be back at Somerset and was offered a contract and expected to be back there. I wonder what went wrong? Teams would be foolish to put all their eggs in one basket, and go out narrow minded aiming to just sign a set 7 riders. Say one of them joins another team, there must be a plan B just in case. Maybe Claus Vissing was just a plan B, it's all rather irrelevant really as the team is complete and whilst it's sad to see, he's not part of it. Personally would of taken Monberg over Claus anyway - although Claus was superb entertainment value. luluthetiger 221 Posted February 23, 2013 How sad is speedway again when something like this arises one month before the start of the season. I refuse to believe that nobody new about this. People within speedway were aware of the problem, it is to the old Glasgow promotion's credit they kept quiet until now. Swindon, it seems, have no credit anywhere. Especially at the bank! If another club -- in either league -- approaches Glasgow with ready money, Nick Morris will be there, and it might not suit a purchaser to then loan him on to the Rebels. Certainly, if they really want him at the OTA, they will have to talk to Glasgow about buying him -- as he is an asset of the old Glasgow company, they have no interest in any loan deal. They need the cash! As we are all aware, speedway is dangerous, and if a rider is injured early doors, Nick might well get a gig at almost any track. Cliffeboy 577 Posted February 24, 2013 Interestingly there is no mention of the Morris saga on the Rebels site, so I should imagine it is business as usual.I suppose if it did go pear shaped, and it will only go that way imo if the Batch thing dosn`t happen,there will be a call going out to either Claus or JBM asap. And you need to remember that the rider must have agreed to the transfer for it to have got to the stage of monies being due because of contracts. It is relevent to the story because it sounds like Dick is trying to start a bidding war, he's entitled to do that but Nick still has to agree to a transfer. Nick Morris has to want to go to A particular track. . In this case he wanted to go to Swindon, and double up with Somerset, and i'm sure it will all get sorted out very shortly. All correct, but even if your boy wants to go to Swindon (and double down to Somerset, who are a bit unlucky here but did presumably believe what Mr Patchett was saying, which might have been a little naive) if the Swindon promotion are unable/unwilling to stump up promised cash then it is clear he can go anywhere he wants except Blunsdon! It has got to be remembered that a PL selling a good asset is a financial windfall for them that might have been factored in to their financial forecasts. Richer owners of the buying club should remember that when not honouring a transaction, they should think a bit more about contract conclusions and the knock on affects to others futures within the sport.
