Ben Fund Meeting - Berwick - Saturday 9 March 2013 6.30pm

Recommended Posts

Great turn out on a freezing cold night , hopefully a few bob was raised for the Benefit Fund . As for the actual racing , well individual meetings only serve to remind us how good league racing is . Typical early season stuff with most races decided by the 2nd bend . In saying that , Mads Korneliussen was a worthy winner and easily the best rider on view . Superb pass on Claus Vissing on the final bend of the race . How Claus Vissing has been overlooked for a PL team place somewhere is nothing short of criminal .

Great craic on the bus down from Glasgow , been a long winter and now we have to kick our heels for a further 3 weeks till our next piece of action .

1st visit to Berwick....COLD!...Not great racing apart from 2 races.....we enjoyed it tho....How bloody good are those burgers?

Oh! Pleased to see Richard Hall and Joe Haines get a race win each...impressed with Richie Worrall...Well done Mads, unlucky Claus.

Cold Bloody Freezing

From the Gate races (with a couple exceptions)

and an awful announcer

It must be speedway season  , well done all involved and the brave fans :P

Pleased made journey up. Looked a decent crowd (2,000 maybe?) It was cold! Dick Barrie was on centre but it was not Dennis McLeary in box announcing?

Enjoyable way to blow away the cobwebs after the winter.

Can't help but feel the Ben fund missed a trick though could have raised another £20k+ if they'd had that blathering clown Dick Barrie do a sponsored silence ;-)

Indeed it wasn't! Was Steve Hayward. Steve will be taking over mic announcing from Dick soon ish... Which may please a few! Personally I thought Dick was thoroughly professional last night and did a good job! Overall, great crowd... 2 or 3 good races.... Great smells and the season is alive :approve:

To be fair, I understand that was Steve Hayward's first-ever meeting as announcer, and to me he was OK, we got the results and times clearly enough - what else do you want?

The rest of the show was fine, apart from the cold. Berwick did their usual good show, Dick Barrie as slick as ever on the grass and race after race came piling out of the pits. Burgers remain the best in speedway!

Giving his performance on saturday night, you wonder if there isnt a promoter somewhere taking a very keen interest in Claus Vissing for a possible future signing.

Spends a lot of time on the injury list IMO.
