John Leslie 3,213 Posted February 20, 2013 Following Darcy Ward's court appearance for fleeing police after being caught riding an uninsured motorcycle whilst drunk and on drugs Middleditch was quoted in the Bournemouth Echo saying "It is what most young people do these days isn't it? He wasn't racing or putting anyone else's life at risk on the track". So Middleditch thinks it's Ok for someone to ride a motorbike whilst drunk and on drugs, and to run from the police. Clearly this statement is not compatible with the job of managing the Team GB National team. No way can the SCB be seen to be condoning an opinion that riding a bike whilst drunk and on drugs is acceptable and "what most young people do". Middleditch's position with the national team is untenable and the SCB must act swiftly to remove him from the position.

Agreed Hoddle was removed from his job as England footy manager for inappropriate comments made to press. To hold onto the tiny bit of credibility our sport has then the same must happen to Middlo

In my opinion, this has nothing to do with Neils position as Poole manager or his position as Team GB manager. The remarks from Middleditch are unbelievable , he needs to be given the chance to explian what he meant by them
iris123 20,997 Posted February 20, 2013 Middlo is the unacceptable face of freedom. To even try to excuse what darcy did is bad enough, but to make out this is something the majority of youngsters do is scandalous.Ok i will forgive him if he just meant Australians
george.m 3,063 Posted February 20, 2013 The remarks from Middleditch are unbelievable , he needs to be given the chance to explian what he meant by them Fully agree. It'll take some explaining though. No matter what he says, even if he simply wasn't aware of the full facts when he commented, he's dropped a major bollock.
waiheke1 4,295 Posted February 20, 2013 Agreed Hoddle was removed from his job as England footy manager for inappropriate comments made to press. To hold onto the tiny bit of credibility our sport has then the same must happen to Middlo and hoddle was expressing a belief in reincarnation/karma which is shared by hundreds of millions worldwide. Not sure how many share middlos views
brewer 159 Posted February 20, 2013 Take a walk mr Leslie... In my opinion, this has nothing to do with Neils position as Poole manager or his position as Team GB manager. take the rose tinted specs off, of course it does, he leads our team in the world cup (supposedly) and is to an extent responsible for each and every one of that team as well as the younger ones coming through, and if this is his logic and stance on such behaviour then he has no right to hold that position.

Darcys Australian, Remember. You cannot tie somebody to his bedposts 24/7. What Darcy gets up to in his own homeland is NOT, Neils responsabillity. Darcy is old enough and ugly enough to be responsable for his own actions in his own country..

In his defence,he did say in his opinion. Not that his opinion is worth much Middlo is reasonably lucky that he is a fairly obscure figure in reality. If that comment was made by someone in a responsible public eye position then he would be cruxified and his position would be untenable. As it is he and some of his mates will say something like, you always support your friends ......His character was questionable before from previous incidents. There is no way if this statement is true that he should be allowed to hold a responible position in the public eye/professional sport
BWitcher 12,453 Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) As I've said on another thread, it appears Middleditch and position as National team manager are untenable. Edited February 20, 2013 by BWitcher
