Redcar V Rye House (pl)... 9th May

Recommended Posts

I am about 4 miles from track and there is light drizzle with grey sky at the moment, think it should be OK for meeting tonight

It began raining when we left the restaurant in Middlesbrough after our parmo for last years Bears/Rockets fixture and It drizzled all the way through the meeting. Rain became heavier just as the racing ended. It was run at a cracking pace though. A little over an hour from memory.

Looks like I may have made the wrong call today, but I honestly couldn't see myself making the start time leaving North London a little after 3pm... Redcar on hot form at the moment. Can't see anything but a good home win... Hope all riders stay safe... See you next year!

Abandoned after heat 10. I made the correct decision :approve: ... I'm off to the casino tomorrow to see if this luck holds :P

Pretty crap way to lose the points though. I feel we could've got something out of this

Just another stupid cost cutting exercise, which at the same time robs the paying customer.

There's no way that a result was certain after two thirds of the meeting. How can Rye House accept that, whe they could at least get one PL point, which could prove vital in the final table.

Pathetic. Stuff like this makes me ashamed to be a speedway fan. The BSPA makes a laughing stock of the sport and takes the pee out of honest people who pay good money to watch.

Agree 100% with you... Maybe we could've got something, maybe not, but we'll never know now... It's at times like this I'm thankful we have a promoter who takes heed of the weather forecasts

IIRC league results in either Poland or Sweden have stood after being abandoned after 10 heats, pre-2013, and still do.

Have to agree who wants. to pay to watch 10 Heats on a dodgy track just to avoid a posponement .They wonder why people stay at home and don't make the effort in adverse weather and to me it's pretty obvious.Fans cannot be sure the meeting will take place .Gone are the days when the boiler suit went on and we had riders who liked wet tracks.

Calling a result after 10 heats is a joke, any bets on how long it is before we see the first weather manipulation and longest ever heat 9 lol

What's that got to do with the price of rhubarb? I hope the BSPA don't try to use that as some sort of example.

The rule to declare an abandonment after 12 heats was originally brought in on the basis that the declaration could only be made if the result was beyond doubt. The BSPA then craftily ignored that aspect of the rule, and there have been examples of league matches being declared where teams even still had a chance to win, not least gain a league bonus point - and more remarkably, even one leg of a KO Cup meeting!

To decide that this highway robbery can now take place after 10 heats just shows the penny-pinching self-interest of the BSPA. They complain about "internet mischief makers", and then quite happily bring the sport into disrepute themselves - simultaneously shafting fans and sponsors. Bunch of jokers.

if this year was last year, then Edinburgh could surely race two 10 heat matches as a double header to fullfill fixtures, obtain results and ensure scunny don't win the title by default, thus denying worky of at least a fair shot at the title. :)

Surely at heat ten, the home heat leaders have had more outings than the away heat leaders?? Well number 1s anyway.... Ridic!!

Pointing out that another European league already declares after 10 heats so it would appear that others have already beaten the BSPA in making "a laughing stock of the sport".

Maybe the Poles/Swedes enjoy cheap rhubarb emanating from Suffolk :P
