Ludvig Lindgren (he's Fine Before You Worry!)

Recommended Posts

So whos going to drop Lindgren, Wolves or Newcastle?

17.7.1 An initial declaration can include only 2 Riders graded as “A” on the Listing approved at the EL AGM. In an initial or re-declaration up to 3 Doubling-Up Riders may be included who must at the time of (re)declaration: a) be in a Premier League’s currently Declared 1 – 7, B) have a PL MA established prior to the start of the season and c) give absolute priority to all British Speedway fixtures.
So now he's not given British Speedway priority, he cannot double up. Seeing as he rode for Wolves last night I can only assume Newcastle are looking for a new rider. Or are we going to ignore a rule again because we don't like it?

If there's any clash between a Wolves or Newcastle fixture and a foreign fixture, then surely Wolves/Newcastle can just postpone theirs now under the new Poole rule.

That's the usual educated response thats usually given from those running the sport and their lackeys when fans raise concerns.

Then they bleat about losing money at the end of the year.

Once again belittling the opinions, concerns and thoughts of the fans. Some things never change. If you don't like it, you belittle. Edited by TheReturn

"In the interests of British Speedway" exception perhaps? To be honest, the Berwick v Newcastle meeting was changed so he was put in an impossible position.

This is what happens when you don't keep the conveyor belt of young talent going, the NL and development leagues are helping by starting to do the job now, but it will take a while to make up for the years of neglect of Brits for mercenary foreignors.

To my understanding of the situation - Ludwig is NOT a mercenary - he had no other choice than to do what he did. I certainly don't think he should be fined.

BWitcher and TheReturn

My sarcastic response is because SCB is well aware of the real situation, but once again wants to be the clever sod with rules.

There are no rules being ignored, but other things in the process to deal with cases such as Ludvig's situation.

Given absolute priority to British fixtures is something that very few overseas riders do now, tonight you have Hans Anderson chasing Danish Final glory,if he`s to give absolute priority shouldnt he be at Swindon.

Im sure Lindgren wouldve loved to have raced at Shielfield the other night, but his Swedish fixture wouldve been arranged months ago where the Berwick v Newcastle meeting was brought forward at a few weeks notice.

Had lindgren told SVEMO is was not racing for Vastervik and would race for Newcastle, chances are you wouldnt have seen Lindgren race over here for quite some time.

That was exactly the situation screm, but unfortunately others want to be the clever lad with the rules. We couldn't get out of it and we were penalised having to put a 3 pointer in instead of Ludvig.

No rules broken at all.

Im just delighted Ludvig wasnt there. :D

Im sure Berwick had a similar situation with Alden last season,if he didnt fulfill his Swedish fixture SVEMO would stop him racing over here,so they used an NL rider..

That's the rules, Yes. Originally there appeared to be a trade off with Swedes on both sides, but it didn't happen. There is precedent of a guest being allowed in exceptional circumstances, but in case it was NO.

As you say, it was probably a better meeting for racing and excitement without Ludvig, but it didn't seem like that on the night before the meeting started.

Id imagine the only other thing Newcastle couldve done was to appeal to the BSPA that Lindgren was witholding his services,Id say Newcastle wouldve got a guest facility for tuesday, but lost Lindgren for 28-days.

A no win situation.

If anything it just highlighted how stupidly pedantic and pathetic some of the rules are.... Surely they should add in something about re arranged fixtures ' for the good of the sport' ?? Instead sometimes it looks like they make it up as they go along :)
