Starman2006 2,356 Posted July 4, 2013 Personally i would put Barker in front of both Eddie and Worrell. But thats me, im not Neil.. Again, if Neil is not happy, he will change things..

I'd agree with that, Barker may not win too many heats but he epitomises the 'no last places' mantra used by Phil Morris last night, Barker never gives up and has mixed it with most of the riders he'd be up against if selected, he's only 25, I think, so can still be considered part of the future of British speedway, needs to step up soon though. I also like the passion he shows, riding for his country will, I'm sure, mean a lot to Ben Barker. I've been very impressed with what little I've seen of Worrall but I've read enough comments to believe he has a big future if things continue at the same pace for him. Im not dissagreeing with anything Neil does, he obviously has his reasons, But Barker is better than he showed last night. Eddie didn't ride at all well last night and need to up his game he's more than capable of it. Again with Eddie, time is ticking. Worrell sort of proved me wrong when he guested for us a couple of weeks ago, but for me Ben is a little workhorse and he would certainly put himself about at KL and gee the lads up. A little agression is good but sometimes Ben goes over the top, if he can channel that agression into his racing alone he would be worth his weight in gold. I also think Bridger could push his name into the equasion, but he needs to show Neil he's up for the job, properly, imo, he's certainly good enough. Triple.H. 1,996 Posted July 4, 2013 Regardless of who should or shouldn't be in the team, the main problem with the GB Setup is that we only have two meetings a year in the World Cup. How ruddy difficult is it to organise a three match test series with Denmark or the Aussies (who are all based here anyway) or both, to blood guys like Worrall, Barker, Cook et al, without having to make a decision to omit them from a four man team for one meeting at King's Lynn. Old style test matches with 6 man teams, plus two reserves that could be used freely, competing over 18 heats. Simple concept that worked perfectly well for years on end until it was scrapped, like most other good competitions in Speedway. No place for commonsense in British Speedway Unfortunately thats the only rule that never changes.

hagonshocker 1,963 Posted July 4, 2013 It is absolutly bleeding pointless for Middlo to use Kennett and may i add a fly or two to the ointment and suggest Harris also?...when are we ever going to prevail as victors in this event or even come close to a bronze medal?....Woffy should be charged with leading a team of fellow youngsters out and instead of having a debate as to wether Cookie is better than Worrall or Auty just use all flipping 3 of them with Tai....nothing to lose and everything to gain especially if we stick with them..let Poland Australia and Denmark etc do the worrying about winning world cup's and let's just concentrate on where we may be in 3-5 years time...who knows by then we may have blooded Ellis Lambert and co!

Pinny 2,580 Posted July 4, 2013 Whats being in reserve for to do with it? He only dropped points in to 1 rider other than the reserve race. Strangely enough he only got defeated by the eastie reserves as well!
david2905 230 Posted July 4, 2013 What have been Kennett's scores over the last month in UK and abroad ? How does he compare to the other riders ? His last 5 scores have been 1, 6, 6+1, 7+2, 10+1 All were away meetings bar the 7+2 he got at home against Coventry. 10+1 was away at Eastbourne If the SWC was at Eastbourne then the selection would make sense, but as it stands, they don't race on comedy small tracks, what's the good of having a track specialist for a type that isn't used ?. I think Harris needs a reasonable showing if it's not to be his last selection, he may be doing no worse than anyone else, but unless someone is truly world class (ie Woofy) I'd try and keep the squad under the age of 30 where there's still room for improvement, Bomber may get back to where he was, but he won't improve on that at 31 or whatever he is now.

However try to find available dates in an already packed schedule. Especially with the EL have a meeting almost every day from March to October. Add to that GP's, GP-qualification, World U21's, Swedish, Polish and Danish league meetings... Judging by this forum there are already allot of complain that other racing infringes on the EL. bigcatdiary 3,173 Posted July 4, 2013 Well in answer to the title question, if Middleditch thinks Kennett should still be in the team after that pathetic display at Birmingham last night then both him and Kennett should be dropped.

Thats a bit harsh mate. As i said, Neil would have his reasons, and if he wants to ride Eddie he will have a reason for it.
