Hel'n'Back 146 Posted August 9, 2013 (edited) At the end of the day, it is the riders that know best Edited August 9, 2013 by Hel'n'Back
luluthetiger 221 Posted August 9, 2013 No-one at Armadale tonight could suggest that the horrific accident was in any way caused by silencers, track surface or whatever. Two riders lock together coming out of the start, a throttle can't be turned off and they actually accelerate, still conjoined, head-on into the fence. Could have happened in 1933, 1963, 1983 or last night.
glasgowmicktiger 142 Posted August 9, 2013 What about all the others lulu? not all will be as clean cut as that
DavyH 164 Posted August 9, 2013 I think such discussions are for another day mick, just now the main concern must be for the riders. It appears from Monarchs facebook that Robert has arm/shoulder/back pain, Claus sore head, both riders being checked over in hospital. Hopefully we'll hear better news tomorrow, thoughts and best wishes to both riders for now.
eide67 199 Posted August 9, 2013 Horrible crash tonight at Armadale - probably the worst I've seen at the track. Claus and Robert seemed to lock together from the start and accelerate straight through the fence, demolishing a huge section. Ironically this came just after the riders had been round collecting for the Ben Fund. Great to hear they were both conscious and talking - really hoping their injuries are not too bad. The meeting had been pretty good up to that point with young Max catching the eye for the home side and Ricky Wells impressing for the second week running. Facundo Albin was very competitive also. There had, however, already been a number of falls. The worst also involving Robert Branford, when he was very unlucky to be excluded in heat 2 when he appeared to be taken off by Derek Sneddon exiting bend 4 and he and his bike were sent hurtling down the home straight. Was there last night but it sounds like this accident was just that,no blame on silencers etc.Sometimes its just down to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Charlieboy 414 Posted August 10, 2013 Wish both riders a speedy recovery.Would an air fence have prevented these injuries ?
tigerowl 630 Posted August 10, 2013 Good luck to both riders with their recovery. Rob put in a lot of effort on Thursday for little reward and I was glad to see him get another go at Armadale.
Cj69 333 Posted August 10, 2013 From Edinburgh News Feed Claus Vissing was released from hospital at one o'clock on Saturday morning. He's a bit battered and bruised but otherwise OK. Robert Branford has a dislocated elbow and this will be reset on Saturday.
Mooose 19 Posted August 10, 2013 Best wishes to both riders, but from a Sheffield perspective special thanks to Rob Branford for his commitment. Hope to see him again some time.
