No-one at Armadale tonight could suggest that the horrific accident was in any way caused by silencers, track surface or whatever. Two riders lock together coming out of the start, a throttle can't be turned off and they actually accelerate, still conjoined, head-on into the fence. Could have happened in 1933, 1963, 1983 or last night.

I think such discussions are for another day mick, just now the main concern must be for the riders. It appears from Monarchs facebook that Robert has arm/shoulder/back pain, Claus sore head, both riders being checked over in hospital. Hopefully we'll hear better news tomorrow, thoughts and best wishes to both riders for now.

Horrible crash tonight at Armadale - probably the worst I've seen at the track. Claus and Robert seemed to lock together from the start and accelerate straight through the fence, demolishing a huge section. Ironically this came just after the riders had been round collecting for the Ben Fund.

Great to hear they were both conscious and talking - really hoping their injuries are not too bad.

The meeting had been pretty good up to that point with young Max catching the eye for the home side and Ricky Wells impressing for the second week running. Facundo Albin was very competitive also. There had, however, already been a number of falls. The worst also involving Robert Branford, when he was very unlucky to be excluded in heat 2 when he appeared to be taken off by Derek Sneddon exiting bend 4 and he and his bike were sent hurtling down the home straight.

And the latest I have heard is a dislocated elbow for Rob - after seeing that crash that is still a relief

Yes can confirm that is correct they will try to put it back into place tommorow , hopefully without an operation.

Was there last night but it sounds like this accident was just that,no blame on silencers etc.Sometimes its just down to being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Good luck to both riders with their recovery. Rob put in a lot of effort on Thursday for little reward and I was glad to see him get another go at Armadale.

From Edinburgh News Feed

Claus Vissing was released from hospital at one o'clock on Saturday morning. He's a bit battered and bruised but otherwise OK. Robert Branford has a dislocated elbow and this will be reset on Saturday.

Best wishes to both riders, but from a Sheffield perspective special thanks to Rob Branford for his commitment. Hope to see him again some time.
