Sgp/bsi And Sec/one Sport It Is War Now

Recommended Posts

Paul Bellamy quoted on Sportowefakty this morning claiming/making it clear that he has no input in the whole affair...

"It is true that the FIM infection cycle start SGP participants in the competition rank Speedway European Championship?

- Please refer this question to the representatives of the FIM. Contracts with żużlowcami to compete in the world championships are concluded by the International Motorcycling Federation. This is about FIM and not BSI."

What do you expect him to say? That they are putting pressure on FIM to ban GP-riders from the SEC?

Why?Sayfutdinov has been announced as well, but it remains to be seen if it will be a peaceful winter

There was a small series with one or two riders named last winter for the UK and in the end what happened?

Does anyone else think that SEC missed a great opportunity here. Instead of a series hich is essentially a "GP Lite", what if they had fgone for an old style World Individial Chanmps style tournament. 4 regional based quarter finals (Overseas final hosted in UK, Nordic Final hosted in Sweden/Denmark, and two continental semi finals). Followed by an inter continental and continental final (8 qualifiers from each), and the a grand final (perefer the old 20 heat format, but if neccesary have a final in which points add to the cumulative total - none of this winner takes all nonsense).

You'd have strong line ups for all meetings, be able to spread them round geographically, ould be offerring something slightly different for the fans - and certainly appealing to the traditionalists- and arguably then woyuldn't be seen as a threat by BSI.

Also re the Pairs torunament - surely it ould have been woth outlaying a few extra sheckels in order to be granted "world" status, or do BSI have exclusive rights to any "world titles.:?

That format suggested wouldn`t have suited TV and therefore sponsors-the final would be all TV would want to show-now they have 4 rather than 1

Instead it had 3 regional (European) qualifiers, one qualifying final ECC and 4 final rounds. Qualifiers and qualifying final ridden with the old 20 heat format.

So they're waiting for the FIM decision . .

They actually say they are carrying on as if nothing has happened, which is why they have announced wildcards. But of course both sides are readying for battle.Bellamy might say he has no input, but with the money his company are spending who is going to believe that? And One Sport aren't just going to go away after the deals they have put in place. Then again with the internal struggle within the FIM maybe it would please a certain faction if FIM Europe were taken to court?Ultimately though i think One Sport seem to have right on their side and there can be no stopping rival competitions, given the nature of the sport and how the riders sign multiple contracts
