mudflaps 664 Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) MATCH PREVIEW Having well and truly ignited their new season with a last heat victory at Peterborough last Tuesday, the Silver Ski Rockets will be determined to continue their impressive start when they travel to Ipswich for another League Cup fixture this Thursday and then host the Panthers in their home opener in the East of England Cup two nights later (Saturday, March 29th @ 7pm).The Rockets will field the same line-up for both matches as that which won at the East of England Showground last week. Rider-Replacement will remain in operation for Jason Bunyan, who is in New Zealand preparing for his Wildcard spot in the Auckland Grand Prix.Team manager John Sampford recognises the clear benefit of their Showground victory for their new challenges both at Foxall Heath and at home on Saturday. Speaking, firstly, about Thursday’s encounter, he feels that “We’re going to carry a lot of initial momentum into Ipswich on Thursday. It really was a wonderful result, and a night to remember. We’ve not managed too many victories at Peterborough over the years, which made it even sweeter. Everyone gave everything, and I couldn’t have asked for any more.“We’ll be going to Ipswich with the aim of emulating what we did at the Showground. Mathieu Tresarrieu will be going back to a former stamping ground, and Jason Garrity will hopefully have got to the bottom of the bike problems he suffered last week.“Ipswich have a pretty settled side for this year, and look a very good and well balanced one too, with Richie Worrall and Gino Manzares coming in.“It will be an interesting evening, and I don’t think anyone can predict the outcome. “That’s the magic of it.”Sampford is also anticipating an “interesting evening” when the Rockets host the Panthers on Saturday. Like themselves, Peterborough will field an unchanged side from last Tuesday’s first encounter between the clubs, and Sampford expects just as tough a test this time around. “No doubt the Panthers will be smarting from last Tuesday, and they have already rebounded by winning an inter-league challenge match at Elite League Leicester on Saturday. They have got a very strong top four in Ryan Fisher, Ales Dryml, Ulrich Ostergaard and Lasse Bjerre, and their reserves have also been picking up points in their first two fixtures.“So we cannot be remotely complacent, despite our victory at their place. Those statistics are in the past now and we have to deliver the goods again on the track.“I fully expect it to be close and tense, and the local derby atmosphere should add an extra factor.”Rye House team for both matches (alphabetical order): Luke Bowen, Steve Boxall, Jason Bunyan R/R, Jason Garrity, Edward Kennett, Simon Lambert, Mathieu Tresarrieu http://www.ryehouserockets.co/news.php?extend.766.1 Edited March 25, 2014 by Flyin Panther
tocha 308 Posted March 25, 2014 Birmingham are at Eastbourne on Saturday for an EL match. Therefore, I am surprised that Kennett and Lambert are turning out for Rye as I thought official fixtures took priority over challenge matches.

They are doubling up so irrespective of official fixture or not they are primarily Rye House riders. It is the EL not the PL that has moved toward squad systems so they have made their bed and now have to lie in it. Don't see why Silvers business should suffer and it would have done had Edward not been at Hoddesdon. One of the many reasons that the PL is the better product. I think the JB will be missed less at Rye with RR coping better and can't see anything other than a comfortable win for the Rockets. Still like the look of the Panthers team and i think they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

As Kennett is a bees asset then PL get priority Edited March 25, 2014 by mdmc82
stevehone 3,430 Posted March 25, 2014 so are these meetings League Cup or East of England Cup?
mudflaps 664 Posted March 25, 2014 so are these meetings League Cup or East of England Cup? This is advertised as Challenge cup 2nd Leg..... (with the 1st leg not having been staged yet...) All a little weird if you ask me, don't understand why last weeks meeting at EOES as League Cup! - other than maybe the Panthers Management though Rye House were vulnerable with Bunyan on vacation...! tocha 308 Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) Rules have been changed so that if a double-upper is riding for his parent EL club, then they get priority when fixtures clash. From what you appear to be saying Kennett and Lambert will have to turn out for Birmingham or have I misunderstood your post? Anyway, here is the appropriate extract from the 2014 regs.whiich, in this instance, appear to contradict themselves as highlighted. 16.1 Fixtures shall take priority as follows: FIM Speedway Grand Prix, FIM Speedway World Cup, FIM SGP Qualifying Meetings FIM Junior Speedway World Championship Meetings British Championships (Senior, Junior), BSPA Shared and Fee Events Elite League Competitions. Premier League Competitions, National League Competitions 16.1.1 A Rider must be released by a Promotion to take part in a higher priority Meeting. 16.1.1.1 In the case of a Doubling-Up Rider the priority is: 1. Original Fixture List 2. The “owning” Club (ie. is on that Team’s Retained List) 3. If there is no “ownership” then the PL Club has priority Edited March 25, 2014 by tocha
Bagpuss 10,798 Posted March 25, 2014 Contradictory regulations? Surely not
SCB 0 Posted March 25, 2014 I just don't see how a challenge meeting can possibly, ever, for any reason take priority over a a league meeting.
Ben91 1,743 Posted March 26, 2014 So Peterborough should also be missing Blackbird. If I was in charge of Birmingham I'd be miffed to lose two riders to a challenge match. Just hope I don't turn up on Saturday to find out the three riders are in fact missing but we weren't told in advance.
