Rye House V Glasgow (knock Out Cup) 14th June @7pm

Recommended Posts

Ben Hopwood at 2 and still no confirmation of our number 7. Options limited due to the NL Pairs at Mildenhall

Pijper went down on bend 2 of heat 13, looked up and saw the Rockets on a 5-1, then made a feeble effort to lift his bike. In the rerun you can guess what happened. A home 5-1 turned into a 3-3. Could be vital, but I doubt 14 points wouldn't have been enough. Once yous get a lead I can see us capitulating.

Ah that old chestnut . We'll see , we have an awful record of trying to pull back deficits

Not such a bad meeting, considering the amount of absent riders - dust did kick-up a bit tho.

Well done Ben Morley, tough to get put into the main body of the side, but did so well he took all 4 of his rides. 3.

Anders Thomsen was excellent unbeaten by an opponent after his first ride, and great Ht12 cut-back - Great rider, and sure some EL clubs will be looking at him

We have a weak enough team anyway but the one thing five of those riders like is a bit of dirt and a bit if grip. So what do they have a landing strip with a blue groove around the inside after about 8 heats. Sensible!!!!

The team have asked for more grip, but the promoter insists on doing it his way. Overheard a couple of members of the track staff after tonight's meeting, deep in conversation about the track prep. Didn't catch all of what they said, but the jist of it seemed to be how THEY Would do it.

Len Silver is someone who divides opinion. Sure, it's his team, his stadium, his money, but he's not always right.

Well said indeed :approve: If its any consolation (and it won't be) he is anything but the only one who is like that.

I didn't think it was a bad meeting and had a bit of sympathy for the track staff given that it was a very warm sunny afternoon and evening and there was a breeze blowing across the track. There was enough passing to suggest that it could be done.

Rye House were solid with no stand out performer, although Ben Morley's important win in heat 8 deserves credit. Thomsen was hugely impressive but the rest of the Tigers were not. Harrison did a job and Marc Owen should not be criticised but heat 13 aside, Wolbert beat only Morley and a slowing Kennett and Compton and Henry took almost all their points from Brendan Johnson. Given the weakness of the Rye team, they should have got a lot closer.

Danny Phillips in for Stefan Neilson, don't know much about him but I hope he can sneak a couple of points as we need everything we can get to get a result from this fixture.

Good Luck and safe racing to all.

Even the local press (see below) seem to think what we all know. When is Silver going to smell the roses for gods sake!

"It was a strange meeting which never sparked into life, plagued by a poor attendance and a dusty track which left those punters who had paid good money to watch probably wishing they had stayed at home."

We love watching Anders too , he has no fear and loves doing outside swoops. Shame you didn't get to see Dimitri as he is even more exciting to watch, we tend to watch Dimitri through our fingers, can be a bit wild though. Anders and Dimitri have been our 2 bright lights so far in a dismal season Edited by dorothy58
